IT WAS another eventful day in the race for promotion to the All Rounder Cricket Bradford Premier League Premier Division, with Methley and Wrenthorpe both suffering defeats while Scholes returned to winning ways with a six-wicket success against Bowling Old Lane.

The performance of the day in Championship Division One was lowly Bankfoot's 41-run over Priestley Cup finalists Methley.

Skipper James Lee played the leading role as his side put a dent in Methley's challenge.

The former Yorkshire player top-scored with 65 in his side's 216 and followed up by taking 4-29 as Methley were bowled out for 175.

Lee was well supported with the bat by hard-hitting Jawad Waheed, who hit three sixes and five fours in his 51 not out.

Only Matthew Lumb (44) made an impression as Methley were bowled out for 175, left-arm spinner Andrew Stothart picking up 3-28.

Despite their win, Bankfoot remain in the bottom two but are just nine points behind Bowling Old Lane.

Methley's defeat enabled Scholes to pull level with them at the top of the table.

Yasir Ali produced another good performance with the ball to return 4-37 as Old Lane were bowled out for 111.

Opener Farakh Hussain (50) and Sadaqat Zaman (33) scored the bulk of their runs.

Wrenthorpe have 254 points and are 14 adrift of the top two after Undercliffe defeated them by seven wickets.

Opener Billy Whitford is proving a shrewd signing for Undercliffe and made an unbeaten 77 as they cruised past Wrenthorpe's 178 all out. Skipper Scott Etherington (40no) helped get his side over the line.

James Glynn (50) and Andrew Bourke (36) were the main contributors for Wrenthorpe as the Undercliffe opening bowlers Craig Wiseman (3-28) and Zeeshan Qasim (3-46) played key roles in their team's success.

The division's best bowling performance came from Morley's Sri Lankan spinner Sangeeth Cooray.

He produced his best Bradford Premier League figures of 7-17 as his side dismissed Yeadon for 90 to secure a 69-run win.

The Morley innings faltered after a promising partnership of 81 between openers James McNichol (42) and Henry Rush (36).

The final total of 159-9 was restricted by James Massheder (4-64).

Baildon recovered from 63-4 to make 249-6 as they defeated Ossett by 167 runs.

Skipper Simon Bailey steadied the ship with an unbeaten 47, while Mounam Ejaz (80) launched a 62-ball counter attack which included four sixes and six fours.

Ossett had no answer to the spin of Jamie Abbott (4-13) and the pace of Waqas Maqsood (3-29) as they perished for just 82.

There was no joy for bottom team Birstall either as they suffered a seven-wicket defeat against Gomersal.

James Russell (3-30), Richard Wear (3-31) and Chris Rhodes (3-6) joined forces to dismiss Birstall for 94, and Wear then guided his side to their target with an unbeaten 48.
