THE experienced Raqeeb Younas guided Jer Lane to victory in their Bradford derby in the Spenser Wilson Halifax League Premier Division.

Michael Shanks' 64 was the mainstay of visitors Thornton's 162, Kieran Rogers taking 4-48, but Jer passed that in quick time for the loss of four wickets thanks to Younas' 83 not out.

That victory kept the pressure on leaders Booth, who had a nine-wicket victory at Triangle.

Promoted Queensbury dropped to last place as they lost their home match with Mytholmroyd, despite Amjad Ali (77) and Mohammed Hanif (73) starring in Bury's 226, the visitors cruising to a six-wicket victory.

Oxenhope, the other promoted team, are only 13 points behind Booth after returning to winning ways.

They notched an excellent 26-run victory over SBCI to displace them in third in the table, and much of the credit for that was due to Liam Dyson.

He scored 61 in Oxenhope's creditable 232, Joe Ousey giving the innings a lift with eight sixes in his 71 and Josh Tetley chipping in with 40.

SBCI were favourites when they were 159-4 with 11 overs remaining but opening bowlers Dyson (5-72), who did well in both spells, and Joel Fothergill (4-42), who helped to mop up the tail, ensured that they were dismissed for 206 (Simon Wood 91).

In the First Division, Great Horton Park Chapel eased to a five-wicket victory at Shelf as a combination of Matthew Jordon (69), Adam Beesley (63) and Richard Hassell (47) ensured that they jumped above their hosts in the table.

Sowerby Bridge got back to winning ways to leapfrog hosts Cullingworth into second place, thanks in the main to a splendid knock of 85 not out from No 5 James Holdsworth.

Cullingworth's innings fell away, with four of the first five batsmen being the only ones to make double figures.

Jon Terry (45) and Steve Welch (22) gave the visitors a solid start, and they were backed up by Stuart Jackson (36) and Chris Welch (22) but could only total 162-9.

Cullingworth thought they were in with a sniff when they took five Bridge wickets, but the hosts were seen home by Holdsworth (85no) and Chris Whitehill (30no).

If Illingworth St Mary’s were favourites for the Second Division title at the start of the season, then the bookies will have now stopped taking such bets.

Their lead at the top is now 19 points and the latest victory was by a mammoth 224 runs as Clayton were put to the sword.

The home side rattled up 323-6, Clayton’s fourth change bowler Aqib Mahamaduz taking 5-66.

Their batsmen, however, were never likely to reach that target and were back in the pavilion for only 99.

To say the bowlers were on top in the Outlane v Low Moor HT match would be an understatement.

The basic facts were that 166 runs were scored, 20 wickets taken and only 44.4 overs required to complete it.

Mandeep Sidana took 5-39 for Low Moor and Ben Lawton 5-37 for the hosts, who ran out winners by 18 runs.
