RAWDON Cricket Club are to host a match in memory of long-serving official Lawrence Walker.

The former chairman, cricket chairman and life member died in December 2016 aged 58.

He served the club and the Airedale and Wharfedale Senior Cricket League for many years and latterly worked for the Yorkshire Cricket Board.

Current cricket chairman Peter Smith said: "The club decided, together with the family, that this was a good way to remember Lawrence.

"We are inviting old friends, cricket acquaintances and colleagues to attend, raising money for two charities and hopefully putting on a good game of cricket."

The 40-over match will take place at Rawdon Cricket Club on Sunday, July 9, with wickets pitched at 2pm.

Sandwiches and refreshments will be available, as well as a barbecue later in the day.

Programmes and raffle tickets will also be on sale in order to raise money for Yorkshire Cancer Research and Yorkshire County Cricket Club's Charitable Youth Trust.
