ON A day when rain decimated the All Rounder Cricket Bradford Premier League programme, Hanging Heaton took over the leadership of the Premier Division after recording a 77-run win over previously unbeaten Woodlands.

The Batley side made 161-4 in a match reduced to 20 overs per side, with opener Nick Connolly again in the runs with 45, while Joe Fraser scored 41 not out.

Woodlands lost wickets in the hunt for quick runs and were bowled out for 84, with Tom Chippendale (3-19) and Callum Geldart (3-12) doing the damage.

The 17 points that Hanging Heaton earned took them ten clear of Townville, who climbed into second place after they recorded their fourth successive league win in a 20 overs per side contest at Lightcliffe.

Townville made 180-6, with opener Jonathan Booth (48) leading the way as spinners Ian Philliskirk (3-60) and Daanyaal Ahmed (2-48) proved the most effective bowlers.

Philliskirk then plundered six sixes in a 28-ball 51 and opener Alex Stead scored 40, but Lightcliffe could only make 151-9.

Jack Hebden (4-40) and Conor Harvey (3-36) were the main bowlers for Townville.

The day’s other big winners were Bradford & Bingley, who not only lifted themselves off the bottom but climbed out of the relegation positions with a 67-run win over New Farnley.

Bingley's first victory of the season came in a 22 overs-per-side match, and their lead man was overseas all-rounder Noman Ali.

He hammered 60 off 36 balls – an innings which contained six sixes and two fours – as Bradford & Bingley posted 175-7.

Wicketkeeper Matthew Duce made a breezy 36, while Nick Walker (4-44) was the best of the New Farnley bowlers.

Ali made his mark with the ball too, taking 4-29, and was supported by fellow spinner David Clow (3-9) as New Farnley were bowled out for 108, with their last four wickets falling for two runs.

The defeat was New Farnley’s fourth in a row and leaves them just five points above the relegation positions.

The only other Premier Division game in which there was any play was at Cleckheaton – and then it was only four balls, but they were eventful.

Opener Andy Gorrod hit a boundary before being bowled by Pudsey Congs’ Jamie Allen before rain brought an early end to proceedings.

Batley dropped to the bottom without even playing as their match at East Bierley was called off without a ball being bowled, as was the contest between Pudsey St Lawrence and Farsley.

In Championship Division One, Scholes maintained their 100 per cent start to the season with a nine-wicket win over Baildon at Jenny Lane.

Yassir Ali continued his impressive form by taking 4-23 as winless Baildon were bowled out for just 70 in a match reduced to 25 overs per side.

Andrew Robinson, James Stansfield and Christian Jackson all chipped in with two wickets each as Scholes took charge of proceedings.

Scholes openers Shoukat Ali (27) and Sam Gatenby (28) then shared a stand of 64 as they reached their target in 11.2 overs.

Wrenthorpe are four points back in second place after they brushed aside Morley by 111 runs in a match reduced to 35 overs per side.

Skipper Greg Wood, who scored 62 from 41 balls, including 11 fours and a six, was well supported by Jonathan Glynn (53) as Wrenthorpe posted a challenging 208, with paceman Matthew Dowse being Morley's best bowler with 3-28.

Morley crumbled to 97 all out in reply as Matt Holstein (3-10) and Jonathan Rudge (3-47) cashed in.

Yeadon's wicketkeeper-batsman Jake Wray was the key figure in their two-run win over Gomersal.

Wray dominated his side's 93-5 with an unbeaten 71, hitting two sixes and nine fours in the 40-over contest.

Richard Wear (3-17) was Gomersal's most successful bowler, and Jamie Bloom (31) battled hard for them when they batted, but his side finished on 91-9.

The wickets were shared by Michael Hunter (3-35), Paul Machell (3-11) and James Massheder (3-5).

Bankfoot v Ossett, Birstall v Methley and Bowling Old Lane v Undercliffe were all abandoned without a ball being bowled.

In Championship Division Two, leaders Hartshead Moor strengthened their position when they dodged the showers to record a five-wicket win at Keighley.

There were a few dark clouds to navigate around in a match that was reduced to 20 overs per side by rain.

After Iain Wardlaw (4-15) and Danny Squire (4-30) had bowled out Keighley for 74, Hartshead Moor plunged to 27-5.

They were revived by Mohammad Khan (36no) and Matthew Evans (23no), who shared an unbroken sixth-wicket stand of 48.

Hartshead Moor, who have now won all their five games, have an 28-point lead over Northowram Fields and Buttershaw St Paul's.

The only other game to survive the weather was Altofts'  eight-wicket win in a 20 overs per side contest at Hopton Mills.

Luke Whitmore set up his side's success by taking 6-37 as Mills were restricted to 124-7, Ashley Mackereth making 41.

Altofts lost an early wicket but recovered strongly as Kristian Miller made a fine 52 not out from 49 balls, hitting three sixes and four fours, while the consistent Farrukh Alam struck four sixes and three fours in his unbeaten 48.
