LAST year's Bradford Mutual Sunday School Cricket League champions Girlington made a winning start to the new season with a 35-run victory over Apperley Bridge.

After being put into bat at Rawdon Meadows in the Group A clash, Girlington were all out for 161 in 33.1 overs. Raza Gulzar scored 52 and Zahid Khaliq 43, with Mohammed Akif taking 4-36 for Bridge.

In reply, Apperley Bridge were bowled out for 126. Salman Khawaja put up a brave fight with 38 not out, but was left stranded as Farhad Raja took 4-35.

Last year’s runners-up, Omars, had to settle for a losing draw against Bradford Moor YCA.

Mohammed Imran scored an unbeaten 50 as Moor finished on 212-9. In reply, Omars fell five runs short of victory after finishing on 208-9, with Saad Mirza scoring 56, Shmile Khan 46 and Usman Ghani 44.

Bradford Gymkhana beat Allerton by five wickets. Allerton batted first scoring 156 with Nabeel Nawaz hitting 61 not out, and Khalid Mahmood taking 5-41. Gymkhana’s skipper Mohammed Shiraz scoring 48 to guiding them to victory as they racked up 159-5.

Yorkshire LPS beat Great Horton Church by 37 runs. LPS batted first and were all out for 125, with Ghazanfer Ali scoring 47 not out. Church were all out for 88 in their reply as Bhavin D Patel took 6-21.

Finally in Group A, Interlink scored 256-8 against Hallfield with Irfan Jamadar scoring 51.

Hallfield responded with 197-8 to hold out for the draw. Waheed Rehman scored 137 as Muhammad Pandor took 5-31 for Interlink.

In Group B, last season’s champions Great Horton Church held out for a losing draw against Parkside after fielding a team of eight junior players.

Parkside were all out for 217 with contributions from Khizer Khan (50) and Ali Hussain (44). Church held out for a draw as they finished on 130-9 with Rizwan Mushtaq taking 4-13.

Salem Athletic netted the highest score of the day, against Girlington, thanks to a century from Masood Ahmed (122) and 91 from Mohammed Siraj.

Salem finished on 335-8, with Waqar Khalil taking 5-48 for Girlington. In reply, Girlington were restricted to 118 all out after Abdul Samad took 5-33 for Salem.

Mayfield had a winning draw against Hallfield B. Nuzakat Ali scored an unbeaten 62 as Mayfield compiled 187-7. Hallfield scored 162-7 in their innings with Ebrahim Mutvalli scoring 58.

Yorkshire Friends beat Cambing by nine wickets. Cambing were all out for 76 with Shiraz Ahmed taking 4-7. Friends replied by scoring 76-1.

Finally in Group B, Bradford Gymkhana beat Bowling Baptist. Gymkhana batted first and scored 123-5. Baptist were all out for 51 as S Hussain took 4-12 for Gymkhana.

In Group C, Mandhata scored 256-8 in their victory over Great Horton Meths. Nikil Patel (86) and Harpratap Singh (51) shared a fifth-wicket partnership of 123, with Meths all out for 111.

Cambing beat Mayfield in a tense game with 10 balls remaining. Mayfield scored 154-9 with Shazad Ashraf scoring 47 and Yasir Ali taking 4-20.

In reply, Cambing scored 155-9, with Fahim Jan hitting a fine 58 and Draren Reynolds taking 5-28 for Mayfield.

TABS beat Bradford Indians by 11 runs. TABS scored 93 all out with Bradford Indians all out for 82 when they batted.

Bowling Baptist beat Bradford Moor YCA by two runs in close game. Baptist were all out for 97 before Bradford Moor YCA ended on 95 as Usman Ahmed took 4-19 for Bowling Baptist.

Finally in Group C, Denholme Clough made their debut in the league with a 32-run victory over Salem Athletic. Clough scored 147-9, with Salem all out for 115.

In Group D, Greenfield beat Muff Field B by six wickets. Muff Field were all out for 96 with Gary Smith scoring 41. In reply, Greenfield notched 97-4.

Muff Field A beat West Bowling by three wickets. West Bowling were all out for 99 with Ian Slattery taking 4-22. Muff Field replied with 103-7, with Karl Burkinshaw scoring 47 and Shiv Krishan taking 4-16 for West Bowling.

Yorkshire LPS beat Central YMCA by six wickets. YMCA were all out for 79, Viral Patel taking 4-21 for LPS. LPS scored 81-4 in their innings.

Finally, Allerton beat Great Horton Meths by 10 wickets. Meths were bowled out for 17 as Umear Aslam took 5-2, with Allerton hitting 18 without loss.
