WEATHER looks to be the only thing that can prevent Yorkshire from claiming a three-day Specsavers County Championship win at Edgbaston after Warwickshire slipped to 7-5 and 29-6 during an incredible third afternoon.

Rain stopped play for just over an hour early in the afternoon, by which stage the Bears had fallen to 5-3 after conceding a first-innings lead of 203.

David Willey picked up the first two wickets before Ben Coad claimed the next four, with the hosts reaching tea, taken early because of more rain, at 36-6 in the 20th over.

Willey had Alex Mellor caught at first slip by Tim Bresnan and Jonathan Trott lbw in the second over of the innings, the first after lunch, before Coad had Ian Bell caught by Bresnan in the seventh over.

Play was halted immediately after the Bell dismissal, but wickets continued to fall upon the resumption.

Coad bowled Sam Hain as he offered no shot in the ninth over before trapping Tim Ambrose lbw two balls later.

His fourth - Rikki Clarke caught at second slip by Adam Lyth - came in the 17th over.
