Yorkshire have dropped two catches during the third morning against Hampshire to threaten their chances of claiming an opening round Specsavers County Championship win at Headingley.

Hampshire, chasing 320 to win, have reached lunch at 103-1 from 35 overs.

Adam Lyth failed to hold onto a second slip catch as Jimmy Adams survived against Tim Bresnan with the score on 17 in the ninth over. He has reached 54 not out.

Then, in the next over, Michael Carberry saw an edge against Ben Coad spilled by a diving Peter Handscomb - a tougher chance - with 19 on the board.

The left-handed pair went on to compile an opening stand of 91, broken by Coad with the first ball of his second spell of the day when Carberry top-edged him to long-leg to fall for 41 in the 32nd over.

Adams reached 50 off 95 balls in the same over. James Vince is unbeaten on six.
