TOM Priestley is stepping down as chairman of the Bradford & District Evening League at their annual meeting at East Bierley Cricket Club on Wednesday, November 30 (7.30pm).
The former Bradford League umpire has been involved with the league in this role for 34 years.
“Tom was originally involved with British Telecom and I believe he was invited onto the league committee by then league chairman Dick Gregson", said league vice-chairman Brian Lymbery.
“Tom has been a magnificent servant for the league over a very long period of time.”
“He would always watch at least one game, and often take in two matches, every Wednesday evening during his tour of the grounds with his son Steve, who was league secretary until his death last year.”
Any clubs who are interested in joining the league should contact secretary Phil Poole on 07778-138036 or 01274-833915 before the annual meeting to give their details and request an application form as prospective new clubs have to be voted in.
