ST CHAD'S Broomfield have been accepted into the Dales Council League.

With three other teams from the former Wetherby League club already accepted into the Aire-Wharfe League, including a team in their Sunday section, Headingley-based St Chad's' third team will play in the Dales (sharing Woodhouse CC) under the usual one-year probationary period.

Great Horton Park Chapel have resigned from the league to play in the Halifax League's Sunday section, while Caribbean were accepted as full members of the Dales at their annual meeting at Pudsey Congs, having completed their probationary period.

Ken Firth has resigned as the league's results and fixtures secretary but will help his successor bed in whenever that position is filled.

Treasurer David Smith reported a surplus of £1,630.43 on the year ended September 30, 2016 compared to a loss of £621.58 last year – a turnaround of over £2,250, chiefly because the league had a ball sponsor who put in £1,250.

Among the proposed rule changes, a move to reduce matches to 40 overs per side from 45 overs per side was defeated 10-5, while start times being standardised at 1.30pm was only carried 8-7 (the old rule stated that the last three rounds of the season would start at 1pm).

A rule that a player must field for at least one over in the first innings to be eligible to bat after the tea interval was passed 16-0, while another change that was unanimously passed was that a 12th man cannot toss up – it must be done by one of the nominated 11 players.
