Junior Witter could take out his California frustration on a local resident.
Promoter Mick Hennessy has opened talks for a May world title defence in England against Timothy Bradley.
The 21-0 American hails from Palm Springs, where Witter was due to be facing Demetrius Hopkins next week before his opponent pulled out.
Bradley, nicknamed Desert Storm, also saw a high- profile fight fall down. He was due to face Jose Luis Castillo in Mexico on Saturday - but Castillo, not for the first time, failed to make the 140lb weight.
That had been billed as an eliminator to face Witter for his WBC light-welterweight crown and Bradley is now expected to be installed as the number one challenger.
The 24-year-old, who has won 11 inside the distance, has never fought professionally outside of California. But he boxed abroad as an amateur in Ireland, France and Germany.
Bradley is promoted by Gary Shaw, who also handles Witter's last opponent Vivian Harris.
Hennessy will be keeping a keen eye on WBA champion Gavin Rees, who defends his belt in Cardiff next week against former Witter victim Andreas Kotelnik.
Witter returned last week from a training camp in Gran Canaria and is itching to get back in the ring. He was gutted when his money-spinning opportunity in southern California collapsed after intended opponent Hopkins fell out with his advisors and refused to sign the contract.
