Woeful spell for Wharfemeadows

A wretched few days for Wharfemeadows Bowling Club saw them narrowly lose two finals and miss out on promotion by a point.

The Airedale and Wharfedale League club lost to Guiseley in the final of the Ronnie Collins Trophy by just half a point. Two days later, they played in the final of the IB Thompson Shield against Burley-in-Wharfedale when they lost by one point. The day after, they failed in the last game of the Monday Night League to gain promotion to Division One by one point, being pipped again by Burley-in-Wharfedale, plus Stanningley.

The Veterans League Cup final for the Ian & Barbara Forder Trophy at Baildon was won by Menston, who overcame Ilkley.

The final of the Jennings Crackles Trophy takes place on Saturday at Greenbottom, starting at 2.30pm, between Shipley Club A and Myrtle Park.

The final of the Dobson Challenge Shield, on the same day, is at Wharfemeadows (2.30pm) between Tarnfield B and Menston B.
