Basketball trials are taking place this weekend, under the auspices of Bradford Council's Sport and Leisure Service, to find a boys' under-13 team and a girls' under-14 team to represent the city in the West Yorkshire Games in the summer.

Trials will be held on Saturday in the Zara Sports Centre at Belle Vue Girls' School (2-4pm) for boys born on January 1, 1995 or later. A second boys' trial will be held on Sunday at Manningham Sports Centre (2.30-4pm).

Meanwhile, girls who were born on September 1, 1994 or later have their trial at Manningham Sports Centre on Sunday (1-2.30pm).

Both boys' and girls' squads will train separately on Sundays during April, May and June under the guidance of qualified coaches to prepare for the Games.

Trials organiser Stuart Culliford, from North Bradford Basketball Development Centre, said: "We want any young girl or boy, whether they are experienced or new players, to turn up for these trials to show the coaches what they can do.

"These trials follow the successful Active Sports coaching centres held throughout the district last term."
