England Knights hit form with Luke Gale a force
4:40pm Sunday 21st October 2012 in Sport By Sports Desk
Luke Gale scored one of England Knights’ ten tries as they crushed Ireland
Ireland 4, England Knights 56
Bulls scrum half Luke Gale played a starring role as England Knights ran in five tries in each half to canter to a comprehensive win over Ireland in the Alitalia Cup in Belfast.
Salford winger Jodie Broughton and South Sydney prop forward George Burgess scored two tries apiece as the Knights brought Ireland down to earth following their opening 30-18 win over Scotland in Edinburgh.
Broughton opened the scoring after three minutes, although Joshua O’Toole levelled the scores shortly afterwards with his first international try.
But the visitors added further scores before half-time through Kieran Dixon, Jordan Turner, Tom Burgess and captain Danny Houghton to lead 26-4, with Gale kicking three conversions.
Broughton added another try to open the second-half scoring and Gale and Michael Lawrence also touched down before George Burgess went over twice to round off the tally.
