Matthews sets the ball rolling for Brighouse in FA Vase

Hall Road Rangers 2 Brighouse Town 5

Brighouse Town cruised through to tomorrow’s draw for the second round of the FA Vase when they went nap at Hall Road Rangers.

Despite not having home advantage and going a goal behind after just two minutes, Town bounced back and controlled the majority of the tie.

John Slater’s second-minute free-kick put the home side in front but minutes later Tom Matthews was fouled in the area as he turned to get a shot in. Matthews netted the resulting penalty and added a superb second in the 12th minute.

Town extended their lead just after the hour mark when Nick Jaggar netted and were 4-1 up when Ryan Hall scored. Two minutes after that Owen Mountain reduced the arrears but a late Craig Billington goal saw Town comfortably home.
