Saladzius signs for Bradford Dragons

Bradford Dragons have completed the signing of 6ft 3in wingman Mark Saladzius.

Saladzius arrived in the country this week from his native New York, where he attended Roberts Wesleyan College, who play in NAIA Division Two.

During his time there he posted some impressive numbers, averaging 12.8 points per game as captain in his senior year, 4.6 rebounds per game and 3.7 assists per game.

Over his entire college career he reached an array of milestones, including scoring more than 1,000 points, grabbing more than 500 rebounds and making more than 200 assists and 100 steals.

He has spent the last two seasons as assistant coach at Robert Wesleyan College.

Dragons coach Chris Mellor is excited to have Saladzius on board, saying: “He has been on my radar for a while and I think he will make a big difference for us”.

Saladzius has dual citizenship of America and Lithuania and comes to the Dragons on his Lithuanian passport as an EU player. League rules stipulate that each club is only allowed two non-EU players to be registered and these spots have already been filled by American guard Bobby Edmunds and American forward Ricky Fetske.

Saladzius is set to make his debut in Sunday’s game against Bristol Academy Flyers in the National Trophy. The game will tip off at 4.15pm at Bradford College Sports Hall, Trinity Road.
