Ryan Wilson goal seals war of attrition for Farsley

Prescot Cables 0, Farsley AFC 1

Farsley climbed one place to fifth in Division One North after a narrow Evo-Stik League victory at struggling Prescot Cables.

It was a war of attrition but the visitors did create the most of the game’s few chances.

Ryan Wilson’s strike midway through the first half ensured a Farsley victory and left Prescot still winless at home this season.

The determination and application of his players was not lost on Farsley boss Neil Parsley, who said: “It was a great clean sheet – and clean sheets win matches.

“It wasn’t great viewing for anyone but sometimes that is not what it’s all about.

“It is always a case of mind over matter when you go to Prescot because you know you are in for a battle.

“Wherever they are in the table or regardless of their current form, it is a tough place to go and get a result as they are a dogged side.

“We had to grind out this three points with a battling and spirited display, rather than by playing attractive flowing football, but we got the same three points.

“That gives us ten from a possible 12 over the last four games – but I think there is more in the locker.”
