Nahki Wells puts pen to paper on new Bradford City deal

Nahki Wells after scoring for City against Burton in the third round of the Capital One Cup on Tuesday night Nahki Wells after scoring for City against Burton in the third round of the Capital One Cup on Tuesday night

Nahki Wells has this afternoon signed a new three-year contract with City.

The Bermudian striker put pen to paper on the deal after training to end the uncertainty over his future.

Wells, whose current contract was up in the summer, has started the new season with a bang. He has scored five goals already, including two coming off the bench to spark the dramatic Capital One Cup win over Burton.

Boss Phil Parkinson was delighted to get the 22-year-old secured in his City’s long-term plans.

He said: “We’re really pleased. We want to keep our best young players and Nahki is certainly one of those.

“He is a talented player and his biggest attribute is his ability to finish with both feet. He is a cool finisher.

“He’s made really good progress in the last 12 months and I’m confident he will keep improving as a player.”

The new contract replaces his current one and ties Wells to the club until the end of June 2015.

Brilliant news loving all this positiveness thats coming out of the club at the moment.
Congrats to Parky and everyone else involved in getting this sorted.
Hope Nakki gets to start most games now as him and Hanson are our best combination IMO.

I was already frothing like bottled bass at the prospect of tomorrow's game but this has topped it.

The lingering doubt was a bit worrying, even more so after his 2 goals on Tuesday.

No distractions now - onwards and upwards!

This is fantastic news and it means a start and a Hat-Trick on saturday. We now have him til 2015 and if anyone comes in, IMO we should tell em to eff-off. When we win promotion this season, why would he want to go? we will bring in more quality as we are in L/1. to work with Nahki and aim for another promotion push.

Fantastic news, and guarantees more money if we sell him next summer. If he continues his form, larger clubs will come knocking.

I think we will have made him an offer he couldn't refuse, with this in mind.

Well done the Chairmen and PP. Nahki is a very good prospect and a very good investment.

Great news and something that I was concerned wasn't going to happen. Also glad the club are now better protected for potentially getting a fee further down the road if he realises his potential, and hopefully Nahki can now get his chin up and go on and get 20+ goals this season.

Glad to see he didn't take My Only Visions advice and go and play in the Canadian 2nd division!

Happy days! They say things come in 3's - Mrs just promotion at work confirmed today, Nahki signs 3yr deal - that must mean I going to win the £80m jackpot tonight!

why would we want to sell him?
think big, keep the best players!!
on a side issue, why are we discreetly moving tables and chairs from outside lloyds for a protest about a film from AMERICA?
i don't like xfactor because its manipulating people but i don't protest!
if you don't like the film, don't watch it.
simples!
at least it was today and won't spoil my day at city!!

His first goal on Tuesday in terms of how he hit it with that placement and power was sheer class, and it's not the first time he's shown it.
If you haven't seen it, go to the Sky Sports website on the BCFC page for highlights.

Brilliant news, with this contract in place we'll have Nahki til next summer and beyond if BCFC carry on playing the quality football that this outstanding squad of players is capable of and get promoted. There is no doubt that we've started very well but i believe this squad is going to go to even greater heights, for me we look like the best squad in the league, which is a mouth watering prospect for the rest of the season. Bring on the Vale.

Yes he woke up this morning with a horses head on his bed courtesy of Mark "The Godfather" Lawns,
fantastic news got to be good for Naki and good for Bradford City if a big club comes sniffing around !!.

Lol that made me laugh the horses head bit! Maybe he woke up and realised Bradford are going places and he wants to be part of that rather than playing reserves elsewhere at a bigger club in a higher league.

Great news; with Wells' pace and Hanson's aerial prowess, they can be a pretty frightening combination at this level, and would be my front two every week.

It's capped a good week for the club, with a fine away win, and stirring cup comeback. With a bigger crowd also expected, the game has all the hallmarks of a typical City fall flat on their faces moment, just when you are starting to feel positive about the team.

Irrespective of the result though, I feel we have a squad that has the quality and mental strength to sustain a genuine challenge for promotion.

Yep, how many times have we experienced that over the years -and a couple of weeks ago against Rothers. However, I do think this group of players are made of stronger stuff, we have so many mentally strong guys in the team who just refuse to accept defeat that I think the Rothers game really was just a blip. I might be chewing my foot tonight after saying that but as you imply 1903, we should be ok over the full season.

The club as a whole seems to have gone from not being able to do anything right, whilst trying hard, to not doing anything wwrong, long may it continue.

So pleased Nahki has signed I'm sure now he hasn't got that pecking away inside him he'll really take off.

Excited for the game today. Need to keep our eye on Pope, he's s on fire this season.

It just seems like everytime we get a big crowd we seem to slip up Lonnie, but certainly can't fault them today; thought we deserved a lot better.

I don't know if it's just a recent phenomenon, as I remember saying to my mate after the Blackpool play off home leg, that we've blown it again in front of a big crowd.

How wrong was I about that one!
