Guiseley boss Steve Kittrick hopes his side will get fair treatment when they make the 362-mile round trip to Oxford City in the Blue Square Bet North on Saturday.

Kittrick, baffled as to why Oxford are even in the northern section, said: “I think some people reckon the north starts at Watford.”

His real worry, however, is that the southern-based referees might show a bias towards the home side.

“All we are asking is for a fair crack of the whip but southern-referee bias is something that I have experienced myself and something that a lot of northern managers have mentioned to me.”

It looks a mouth-watering encounter on paper, with the Lions in second place and their hosts in fourth.

Meanwhile, two former Bantams have left Guiseley.

Centre half Simon Ainge has signed on loan for Blue Square Bet Premier side Luton Town for a month with a view to a permanent deal.

Club secretary Adrian Towers said: “If all goes well for him down at Luton, and a fee can be agreed, then we feel that this will be a good outcome for both Guiseley and Simon.”

Striker Danny Forrest has also left the club.

Kittrick said: “Danny wanted regular first-team football and we couldn’t offer him that.”

The 27-year-old Keighley -born player came to Nethermoor in January 2011 on loan from Barrow and made 40 starts in two spells, plus 21 substitute appearances, scoring 12 goals.

Kittrick added: “Danny only made 28 starts and came on 13 times as a substitute last season because of injury, and that is why we didn’t offer him a contract. He also got injured this season.”

Forrest admitted he was gutted to leave but said: “I just want to play football every Saturday and hopefully this will help me do that.”

Meanwhile, Chris Mason has also gone to Kendal Town on a three-month loan deal.
