Bradford City striker Ross Hannah joins Grimsby

Ross Hannah has slipped down the City pecking order Ross Hannah has slipped down the City pecking order

Ross Hannah today left City for Grimsby on a three-month loan.

The striker has not featured at all this season after finding himself down the pecking order for Phil Parkinson's men.

Parkinson said: "We've got a lot of games coming up but I just felt the time was ready for Ross to go and play. He was growing frustrated and he wanted to go."

But the Bantams have a 24-hour recall clause after 28 days in case they need to bring Hannah back early.

No surprise whatsoever with this move for Ross. Someone mentioned December, but he needs games now. Other fringe players will undoubtedly go out on-loan if the squad remains largely injury-free.

Ross has been in limbo at City, he cant get in the team and just warms the bench, nobody knows if he's quite good enough for league football but he can't get a run of games to show us as we have better options, from what I have seen I'm not sure if he would cut it...

Everybody knows he can do it at non league level so this move doesn't really tell us anything, other than keeping him match fit should we need to recall him. I suspect we may not see him again.

I see Scott Neilson has joined them as well. Hope they both do well.

No surprise at all. The writing looks to be on the wall. As mentioned in an earlier post, he could be gone by January along with Nahki.

Good luck to the lad, the goal he scored at Morecambe will live long in the memory. Hope he kicks on at Grimsby, if he does i fancy he wont be back. Good to see Scott Neilson joining a decent club as well.

Williams will be gone once he's fit.... with the club looking at bringing in another quality player in January.

3 in-form strikers ahead of him, not surprised. I actually think this is the longest we've gone in quite a few years without suffering any serious injuries (touchwood).

RH would never come in and make an instant impact, probably would take a few games to get going but he's never really had it.

Wouldn't surprise me if we go for another striker in January if we're still around the top 7 - failure to strengthen the squad cost us in SMC's second season when we totally collapsed around Feb-April. Hannah would be well out of the question in that case.

He has never been given a proper chance in the first team. Watch the goals fly in for grimsby.

Hence the "But the Bantams have a 24-hour recall clause after 28 days in case they need to bring Hannah back early."be that the goals have started to dry up for us (lets hope thats not the case) or as you say he scores plenty of goals for Grimsby and PP fancies he could do the same for us!!.

Why would he need game time when he plays in the reserves??
Ross was told in the corridor on his way to the changing room on Saturday that he wasnt on the bench by Parkie total out of order, Parkies peoples skills need addressing!!!!!!!

Good luck Ross you deserve a break!!!

As I mentioned on the other story, Hannah HAS proved he can score goals in non-league. However, there is a massive difference between the Evo-Stick and the Conference. Hannah has never played as high in non-league as he is set to do now. This is his big chance and one I dearly hope he takes.

For me, he has to prove he deserves his chance. He has done okay (but due to a number of reasons) hasn't shown he can regularly score goals at this level. Conference football isn't too far off this level, so this will be the perfect chance for him to stake his place and for us to see if he can really make the step up.

I think that Ross really needed a league 2 club to get a loan at. I guess that hasn't been possible and this is the next best thing, although I think the gap is a little bigger than you suggest. I don't think this will be enough to rejuvenate his career at City even if he does OK, unless there is something of an injury crisis, and time is fast running out on his contract.

Its pretty obvious Parky seems to prefer a higher quality player who has seen and done it to get us out of this league and the board have backed him with a higher budget and better quality player, unfortunately Ross doesn't fall in to this category, it may not help his cause that he is not a PP signing. Indeed there seems to be no words of encouragement for Ross from PP as he did earlier today with Gary Thompson, add that to the comments above from dave2610 and it may suggest parky has made his mind up?.

Shame really. But saw this coming but makes sense really. He is only in a league lower than us so should give us an idea if he can hack it at league level. I think he can but has not really been given the chance. He must b really bad in training! As for scott Neilson joining Grimsby to. How times change when your desperate. He apparently left city as was home sick up north lol.

I feel this move has been on the cards for a while. Ross just isnt strong enough or have any pace to be a potent goal scorer at this level.
Im sure with how preseason went ross will have felt he deserved a chance to impress.
A decent young man who I sincerly hope grimsby give plenty of starts too and scores goals.

Shame to see Ross loaned to Grimsby, watch him put them away.
Good luck Ross, I,unlike Parkinson, rate you.
How will his football skills get any better, if he NEVER gets the chance to play in division 2.

Of course he's not a pp signing, pp would never have signed a player who is not good enough for league football. He's 26 now so should be in his prime?

So cookie_brighton and northyorksbantam can't have an opinion without your snide remarks,
"I bet your one of those who wanted to give bullock a new contract.?"

"Of course he's not a pp signing, pp would never have signed a player who is not good enough for league football. He's 26 now so should be in his prime?”

Nothing snide about it, its a fact that Hannah is not a PP signing.

This sort of thing always happens when managerial changes are made?. New managers have there own ideas and will go out and sign there own players and existing players will suffer because of it.

Could give you Andy Carroll as a pretty high profile example if you understand that better. Is it snide to say that hes not a Brendon Rodgers signing or is it a fact that he's not a BR type of player?

PP has benefited from a change in direction from the board after last seasons disaster, and has been given a higher budget, hence as I said above bringing a high quality player who have seen it and done it. However his remit is to get us promoted, so why would he pick what is a potential prospect at best who he didn't sign, when he has brought in Connell and Thompson on top of Wells and Hanson.

The only way Hannah will get a game is if there is an injury crisis.
