Passion of Omar Khan for Bradford Bulls is infectious
6:30am Thursday 20th September 2012 in Sport
By Ross Heppenstall, Bradford Bulls Reporter
Omar Khan, Francis Cummins and Gerry Sutcliffe
Omar Khan was struggling with flu when he and Gerry Sutcliffe unveiled Francis Cummins as the new Bulls head coach on Monday morning.
“I’m sorry if I start coughing, I’ve been a bit run down lately and I’ll probably have to hand you over to Gerry very quickly!” Khan told the assembled media.
Khan battled on through the press conference and his affiliation to the club and the city became apparent.
“Bradford has always been my passion," said the restaurant boss.
“I want to promote Bradford because it’s a city that I love.
“It’s done a hell of a lot for me and I want to put something back into the community.
“This is not a business – the Bulls are something I’m passionate about; not to make money but to make a difference here. Am I enjoying it so far? I’m loving it.
“I’ve been suffering badly with the flu and a cold this week and it’s been horrible! But I’m getting over it.”
As a proud Bradfordian himself, Khan is delighted that the current Bulls side has a local heart with the likes of Elliott Whitehead and John Bateman at its core.
He said: “Bateman and Whitehead are fantastic players – absolutely beautiful players – and it’s great to have home-grown Bradford boys in the team.
“I still keep in touch with the likes of Leon Pryce and Robbie Hunter-Paul from their time at the Bulls. We used to chill out together and I was very close with them.”
Khan is also evidently close to MP Sutcliffe and the bond they share would appear to bode well for their future partnership at Odsal .
Sutcliffe said: “What’s been really good is the amount of good will we have received from the fans – particularly BullBuilder, fans in general and also businesses in Bradford.
“We’ve got an exciting young coach, an exciting team and hopefully he can make a success of this great club.”
Cummins, Sutcliffe and Khan received a round of applause from the smattering of fans at the end of the press conference.
A new era was well and truly underway.

I have gone on record as saying the only possible justification I could see for massive fines on this scale would be to pay off creditors, maybe to keep Sport England off the RFL's back after yet another loss to HMRC. Whether this is part of the plan I have no idea, nor do I know how in practice it could be effected within the insolvency legislation. But I cannot see any other possible justification for putting the new owners at such a huge disadvantage compared to the rest of the competition? Unless it is all politics, and is a warning to any other club owners about what will happen if they put THEIR club into administration, but (unlike the end result at Bulls) then tried to buy the assets off the adminstrator and come back as a phoenix afetr a pre-pack? But I can only speculate, since I cannot understand why the RFL would at once allow OKB to take over the Licence AND at the same time do their best to ensure the club will struggle to meet the conditions for having a Licence.
.
FELLOW BULLS SUPPORTERS - DO YOU NEED ANY FURTHER PROOF THAT THIS 'FAKE MUMBY' IS A COMPLETE THIEF AND SCUMBAG?

Mr. Tordoff, a man in his 80's who may not need the hassle of another bail out challenge.

A company with just one director is not a recipe for success. Any business needs input from several specialists so Mr Khan nees more expertise & financal clout to join him on the board asap.
Does not matter a jot whether they are directors on the board or not; what matters is that he is supported by capable and experienced people. He comes across very much as a man of enthusiasm and ideas - both in droves. He already has people around him (some of us have already met some of them) and I am sure he will be building on that in the coming weeks.
He also has the very big advantage of having a former Sports Minister on the team. I'd tend not to underestimate the significance of nor the potential in that.

Right or wrong is anyone's guess but it was noticeable at every game, to me anyway. However the obvious enthusiasm from OK and GS was palpable in the room. I got the impression that the struggle for recognition in 2013 , was also a struggle that we were going to be part of , and the club was all our collective responsibility, because we are all part of the team.
This really is what a Peoples team is about.
COYB we're OK will be the chant!
PS It wouldn't hurt to mention our progress in the corridors of power either. aka your comment re the ex Sports Minister.

People respond to there heros policy.
Old chaps in Liverpool now cycling 100 miles a week and lets be fair the players and club are most peoples heros and tjhe idea is they respond better with the pro club leading such fitness initiatives.
The peoples club sounds perfect.
Apparently been a tremendous success.
