East Bierley plan to get a cup final flier this time
The JCT600 Bradford League’s top flight has too much strength in depth for any opponent to take another for granted.
Bierley, who had been put in on a helpful pitch, were 99-6 after 38 overs when play was abandoned.
The rearranged contest starts from scratch at Spen Victoria on Sunday (11am) and Bierley skipper Lee Goddard, who missed the first encounter because of an appendix operation, said: “Mills bowled well and caught extremely well – but we should have adapted our game to the condition of the wicket.
“We gifted them some dismissals and also had a silly run out so what we must do this weekend is start well, whether we are batting or fielding.”
Goddard replaces Andrew Newby in the Bierley team, while Mills bring in Aftab Ahmed and Shahzaib Khan for Aezaz Dar and Haseeb Rehman.
Alan Carter and Gerald Taylor, who replaces the unavailable Glyn Pearson, are the umpires.
The league have also announced that spectators will not be allowed to take alcohol into the ground.
It follows unsavoury scenes both inside the ground and inside Spen Victoria’s clubhouse on the original date of August 26. Disciplinary action will follow in the wake of the incidents.
