Eccleshill’s Paul Gill was runner-up in the 2012 Ben Ramsden Merit
Wyke ’s Tony Throup was crowned Ben Ramsden Merit champion after beating Paul Gill of Eccleshill 21-16 in the final. Throup’s knowledge of the Spen Victoria green proved crucial as he bowled consistently well all day to win his first Bradford League title.
Throup took an early 10-4 lead in the final, playing a mark across the middle of the green.
Despite recovering to 10-7, Gill was always playing catch-up.
Throup returned to the mark that had given him previous success and extended his lead to 19-8, and then 20-12. Gill scrambled a few late chalks before Throup scored the single he needed to take the title.
