Eccleshill made to pay for slow start
6:00am Wednesday 12th September 2012 in Sport By Ian Whiting
Eccleshill United failed to improve on their disappointing early points return in Baris Northern Counties East Division One when they slumped to a 4-0 defeat at Worsborough Bridge Athletic.
The Eagles had a few key players missing and defended poorly in the first half, which allowed Worsborough to rack up an unassailable lead.
Eccleshill boss Ian Banks made changes at the interval and it appeared to work as the second half was goalless.
Andy Howland had the Eagles’ best opportunity and they felt they were denied a stonewall penalty but had either led to a goal it would still have left Eccleshill well short of their opponents on the night.
Three more of the local semi-pro sides are in action tonight.
Albion Sports missed out on a fixture at the weekend but they host Rossington Main at Horsfall Stadium.
Brighouse Town make the journey to Lincoln Moorlands Railway in the Northern Counties East Premier Division while Silsden have home advantage for a roses clash in the North West Counties Premier. The Cobbydalers entertain Barnoldswick Town.
