Yorkshire lose key wickets in afternoon session

Yorkshire endured a disappointing afternoon session on day one of their LV= County Championship match at Essex.

Having resumed on 111-2 after lunch at Chelmsford, they slumped to 190-6 at tea.

The first wicket fell just three balls into the session when Phil Jaques was dismissed for 38 by Graham Napier.

Captain Andrew Gale soon followed for ten, before Gary Ballance (30) and Bradford-born Anthony McGrath (18) were dismissed in successive overs by Reece Topley.

At the second interval, Andrew Hodd was unbeaten on 12 and Azeem Rafiq seven.
