Attock United go on attack to stun Kashmir
4:40pm Tuesday 11th September 2012 in Sport By Sports Desk
Champions-elect Kashmir suffered a dent to their pride as they lost to Attock United in the penultimate week of the West Riding Sunday Council season.
Second-placed Attock made an unexceptional 238 but Kashmir must have been in holiday mood as, despite a great 97 from Amir Ayub, they lost by ten runs. Manningham , on the other hand, have struggled most of the season but their 244 proved enough to beat Westwood Park.
Asad Ali’s 59 was the star turn for Manningham, who dismissed their opponents for 225 despite the best efforts of Sajjad Khan (61) and Zahir Shah (55).
Khaleeq Ahmed’s tidy 69 was not enough for rock-bottom AMCC as their 194 all out was passed by Mayfield Royals for the loss of eight wickets.
Barring an absolute disaster, Indus Ghari will be promoted in their first season after they edged out Skipton Kashmir.
It look to be an easy task after Kashmir were dismissed for just 108 (Zufar Iqbal 54) thanks to Sheralam Khan (5-27). But Indus still lost six wickets in reaching their target. Division Two leaders Diamond were five-wicket winners against the youngsters of Attock Tigers, for whom Muhammad Sajjad (50) dominated a total of 101.
Mr Fix It DIY’s total of 159 proved no problem for Khan, who eased home by five wickets.
