Bradford City: Bobby’s book will certainly have the X-factor

Bobby Campbell was a regular 'church' goer Bobby Campbell was a regular 'church' goer

My old City mucker Bobby Campbell is bringing a book out and that’s one I cannot wait to read.

Good luck to Paul Firth, who ghost-wrote it with him. It must have taken ten years to work out what Bobby was saying! Rumour has it the book is going to be called Misunderstood.

I’m looking forward to seeing some of the tales in there – I’ve got a few x-rated ones that you could also throw in.

Bobby’s a great character – once you understand him, of course – and I’m sure there will be plenty down at the club for the get together on October 10 to promote it. I know a few ex-players will be going along and it should be a laugh.

No doubt all the wrong ’uns and the strippers will get a mention at some point. That’s the strippers from Bobby’s “church”.

After training every day, Bobby would say to us “right, who’s going off to church then?”

By church, he meant the Belle Vue pub at the top of the road with the topless DJs and exotic dancers!

Pensioner Waynus would have been calling his managers every day.

They should have called it the good the bad and the ugly because Bobby could be all of those. I remember when he was suspended shouting from the back of the stand. At our fullback, when he'd made a very rare mistake and at the back of the stand a familiar voice shouted your F**king useless Chapman.

Two points. Firstly, Campbell wouldn't have been the only player to have a thirst for a pint back in those days. Most players liked a drink. However, these days, most players respect their bodies more and don't drink like previous generations.

Secondly, I'm not sure, but I would expect Guiness to be the tipple, not Bud, LOL

Sorry Waynus; i was just being mischievous...betwee
n you and me I always thought you had a point about modern players over-doing it with the alcohol. (Don't tell anyone though; it's too early in the season to start agreeing on things).
