Guiseley feeling the pace as duo match their perfect Blue Square Bet North start
A frantic early pace has been set in Blue Square Bet North but something will have to give on Saturday as two of the three clubs with a 100 per cent record after six fixtures go head to head.
Guiseley travel to face Chester - but even if there is a winner they may not end the day at the summit.
That is because Brackley Town are the current leaders on goals scored, and should they maintain their flawless start at Bradford Park Avenue then they will top the table going into next week.
The relentless pressure has taken its toll on Steve Kittrick’s squad but the Lions manager believes his players are up to the task.
Kittrick said: “It has been full-on. You win six games out of six and expect to be up at the top but these other sides have matched us.
“It is difficult to keep up to the standard that is being set and it is draining, both physically and mentally.
“But I’m in a very good position here because my players are a very receptive bunch. They listen and they act on what they are told. That, for me as a manager, is fantastic.
“There has been an exceptional start to the season, with three clubs having won all their games, and you do have to dig deep and try to keep it going.”
Guiseley will be hoping neighbours Avenue can pull off a shock and end Brackley’s winning start while doing themselves a favour by preventing Chester from taking maximum points and ascending to the summit.
Kittrick has man-managed his squad well so far, despite a few injuries, and is hoping to have a more players to select from this weekend.
He said: “We were hoping Danny Boshell would be back involved on Tuesday (a 2-0 win at Colwyn Bay) but thought it may be a little too soon.
“This game was always a more realistic target for the lad and there are others ready to be involved too.”
