New Bradford Bulls boss is no stranger to world of sport

Well-known Bradford entrepreneur and restaurateur Omar Khan might be new to rugby league, but he is no stranger to the world of sport.

In 2009, the businessman was unveiled as Bradford City Football Club’s first Asian ambassador, where he pledged to “break the barrier” stopping the community from getting involved at Valley Parade .

However, Mr Khan is better known in Bradford for the two Asian restaurants which carry his name, one on Little Horton Lane in the city centre, and one off Keighley Road, Skipton .

He opened his first Bradford restaurant more than 20 years ago and launched his second venture, which included a wine bar and a Churchill Lounge, in tribute to his hero, wartime Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill, in 2011.

As well as his business success, he has helped raise thousands of pounds for charities by hosting gala dinners.

In 2005, he helped raise £35,000 for the Telegraph & Argus South Asian Earthquake Appeal during an event at the Midland Hotel, organised with the support of Bradford South MP Gerry Sutcliffe.

The following year, he was invited to meet then Prime Minister Tony Blair and his wife Cherie Blair during a reception at 10 Downing Street.

I really do hope Omar Khan has the money or the backers required to get "The Bulls" back to where they were several seasons ago in the Super League but if fans believe the above comment "In 2009, the businessman was unveiled as Bradford City Football Club’s first Asian ambassador, where he pledged to “break the barrier” stopping the community from getting involved at Valley Parade" then I hold out little hope for you.
He became involved with bringing Zesh Rehman to Bradford City on loan from QPR (and paying his wages was the rumour) then signing him permanently as he was the Pakistani national team captain at the time and hoped this would generate interest amongst the Pakistani community needless to say this did not happen to any great extent,so I would ask the question does Mr Khan have the money to pay off the £1.5 million pound debt along with the £xxx losses that "The Bulls" are losing each month ? as I say in my opening comment I hope he has the money or he has other backers as you don't want to be going down this road again in the near future as we City fans know just what that means in trying to bring success to your club.
