‘Up to five’ groups eye up Bradford Bulls
8:00am Friday 10th August 2012 in Sport
By Hannah Postles, T&A Reporter
The administrator of the beleaguered Bradford Bulls yesterday announced he had received a flurry of offers for the club – a day after the Telegraph & Argus exclusively revealed Bradford City Football Club had entered the race to save it from liquidation.
Brendan Guilfoyle, of The P&A Partnership, said there were now “up to five” parties interested in rescuing the Super League club from collapse and gave prospective buyers until noon today to express their interest.
Bantams’ co-chairman Julian Rhodes told the Telegraph & Argus he approached the Rugby Football League and administrator about how it could help its struggling neighbour, and it is believed the offer was discussed by the governing body on Wednesday night.
The bid came two days after Super League (Europe) Ltd submitted a bid on behalf of Bulls’ 13 top-flight rivals.
Yesterday, former Sports Minister Gerry Sutcliffe revealed Bradford curry house boss Omar Khan has also joined the running to take over the club and an unconditional offer has been submitted to the administrator and the RFL.
Mr Khan’s original bid was not passed on to the governing body for consideration because of the previous conditions attached – that the side remains in the Super League and the new buyer is able to buy the lease to Odsal Stadium.
But Mr Sutcliffe said the conditions have now been removed. “Omar Khan is still interested in buying the club. Obviously it’s good news that there’s a number of bids that can be considered,” he said.
“I hope the RFL picks the best bid to make sure we can keep Bradford Bulls going – preferably in the Super League.”
Asked about Bradford City’s bid, the Bradford South MP replied: “I hope the RFL chooses the best bid that’s in the best interests of rugby league in Bradford.”
Mr Guilfoyle yesterday revealed a consortium of Bradford businessmen known as ABC had “reluctantly” withdrawn its offer for the club – but there was still a lot of interest in the club.
“There could now be up to five interested purchasers for the Bradford Bulls,” Mr Guilfoyle said.
“It’s in everyone’s interest that we get a deal over the line as quickly as possible.
“Therefore, we have set this deadline of noon tomorrow for unconditional offers from anyone who can show that they have funds in place and a business plan.
“In addition to the offer from SLE and an unconditional offer the RFL considered yesterday, I understand that the RFL may have other parties interested in buying Bradford Bulls.
“The ABC consortium has reluctantly withdrawn. I have another group from Bradford still considering whether to make an unconditional offer.”
Mr Guilfoyle stressed that any offers must be unconditional and advised potential bidders to consider a number of factors.
“Any purchaser is taking a chance on whether the club will be continuing in the Super League or playing in the Championship next season,” he said.
“If it’s the latter then the owner will still be paying Super League wages for up to 20 players for the next year.
“As well as paying rent to the RFL for Odsal any new owner will probably have to make capital investment in the ground before the next round of Super League franchise bids in 2015.”
RFL director of standards and licensing Blake Solly hailed the “decisive and bold actions” of SLE for the new interest in the club and set a deadline of 5pm today for prospective buyers to approach the governing body.
“The board continues to be receptive to unconditional offers and is keen to bring to an end the uncertainty surrounding the future of Bradford Bulls and the wider sport,” he said.

Now we sit back and wait. The offers made from 3 parties clear all debts. So there should be no stumbling block to the club retaining the place in Superleague. The RFL do not want to sell us back Odsal so it will be them who are responsible for implementing improvements to the ground. We do think though that there will be a return to promotion & Relegation at the end of the francise system. Our Business plan we have submitted also incorparates this eventuallity.
I guess its a trait of many (not all) Bulls supporters to lay the blame or responsibility elsewhere.

I.e. if you fell and injured yourself and the 'occupier', the RFL were found to be negligent, they would be liable as the 'owner' and landlord.
It would therefore be in the RFL 's interests to keep the ground up to the required standards, that they themselves set down.

Odsal stadium in its present form comes up to standard for SL Rugby & meets the minimum standards set out by the Football league.
We have no interest in moving the club to Valley Parade but would be positive to incorporate Bradford City at Odsal Stadium in the future should they so wish.
We have advised the administrator that is our preference that all Bradford players that have come through the club as home grown players stay with the club. We are interested in purchasing the club on that basis and the basis no home grown player is sold.
We have submitted our business plan for Bradford Bulls holdings based on being tenants to the RFL and a totally a different business plan has also been submitted should we be able to buy the lease back from the RFL. This includes a new board of directors with certain ex Bradford Bulls / Northern players.
Should the RFL sell the lease back to us, if we are successful with the bid we have submitted. The first thing that will be done is phase 1 of improvements to the ground, these would include, cover the popular side, new terracing and safety barriers put in place, demolition of the aging touchdown facility. We already have architects drawings of the structures we would like in place and have had discussions with Bradford Council who have been very positive of said plans.
Phase 2 of ground improvements would incorporate new structures to be able to hold concerts and music festivals at the ground that would attract world class performers with a capacity in excess on 50,000 when taking into account the use of the covered pitch. This in turn would generate much needed additional funds that would be allocated to the business. And invested in playing talent and the business structure.
We have again held talks with music executives and the Warrington owner who has indicated Odsal would be a viable option for such events with its excellent transport links.
We have held prelimary talks with Blake Solly Andrew Whiteham of Super league and I believe they have been impressed with how detailed the offer is.
We believe that we can turn the Bradford bulls fortunes around and lead it into a profit making business with Rugby league the core prospect with Local home grown talent being fundamental to the clubs on the field success.

You wouldn't pay £50k for an extension on a house ou rented would you? So why should bulls be expected to pay millions to do up the RFL's ground, and still have no gurantee they will remain in SL?

The leaseholder and the leasees' responsibilities will be laid down in the lease. Which we don't know the contents of. The bulls, as tenants will have another set off responsibilities. Which we know nothing about. What we do know is that the rfl, bulls, can do nothing without the ok of the council. So the arguement re who does what and when, is a dead one. Until, some knowledgable person on here comes up with a copy of all agreements. Or makes up more fairy stories as is the norm, with most on here. You know who you are. Scandanavian myths, just a thought you can all go live under the new cycle bridge over Manchester road.

Should we need to change the coach we have spoken to a candidate who has have a wealth of experience in super league, currently coaching in the Championship. I hope this answers your question. Unfortunately I cannot go into too many details as this could well scupper any plans we may have should information that is Private and confidential become
We have yet to speak to the person who is currently in charge and inform him of our plans. We hope to do so after tonight's game. But funds are in place to start paying his and his back room staff salaries. This will also include the re-instatement of Paul Medley and staff. But this will be a tempory measure that may have to be done through the Bull builder hardship fund for tax and Administrator reasons.
Local & British talent will become the cornerstone of Bradford Bulls. However we will also be doing everything we can to keep our existing overseas players who wish to stay with us.
Should the RFL look at us as preferential bidders we have funds in place to do any deal as and when required and can then as a priority look to retain members of the playing squad who the Coach requires us to keep.
We await the RFL

Hahahahahahaha,
Some people will believe anything and boycotting the team because you don't want to enter a different ground, what a joke set of fans.
BCFC get 10k in the 4th tier would like to see how many Bulls fans stuck round if they dropped out of the top.
Now the real point , for Wlly Lewis, IF you are genuine, who is going to be your choice as coach , ??
.
For example:
Dundee > Dundee United
Liverpool > Everton
Football isn't the same as Rugby League were you can stand in the same end as your fellow supporter.

Just to clear things up. We are a 4 Bradford Bulls supporters who are interested in purchasing the club. We are aware that as fans there is very little information coming out.

However it does somewhat concern me that our friend Wally, is giving all this information to a group that are like minded and do care deeply for our club!
Plustheir hopes and aspirations would be once again severley damaged if this was indeed not to be credible, and Wally Lewis was like the last time we heard he was coming, and he never did, if people can remember that far back.
I think if Wally was to give his name to an appropriate article in the official T&A, 1) It would be printed straight away.
2) We the supporters would feel considerably more at ease with everything that you said.
Is this a possiblity Wally?
PS There is no doubt that a lot of what Wally says is and has come true.
Excepting the finality of seeing Andrew Whiteham in a position of authority once more???

The name was mistyped in WLs article, which of course is why I brought it up.

Hi, Andrew does in fact work for himself but he has helped us dramatically put the bid together. He is both experiend and has the contacts that we need, and a number of us have been friends with him since we played Bull Tag together years ago on the odsal fields behind Odsal staduim. We have already spoken to the T&A sports writers but until we can be in a positive situation and the bidding war has been won. We cannot yet go public at the RFL's request. Should not win the bid. We will invite the T&A to publish our offer and projections in full.

Nicknamed The King and also The Emperor of Lang Park, Lewis represented Queensland in thirty-one State of Origin games from 1980 to 1991, and was captain for thirty of them. He also represented Australia in thirty-three international matches from 1981 to 1991 and was national team captain from 1984 to 1989. Lewis is perhaps best known for his State of Origin performances, spearheading Queensland's dominance in that competition throughout the 1980s. He captained at State of Origin level 30 times, winning a record 8 man of the match awards.
Lewis has since been inducted into the Australian Rugby League Hall of Fame and in 1999 he became the sixth member of 'The Immortals'. In 2000, he was awarded the Australian Sports Medal for his contribution to Australia's international standing in the sport of rugby league.
