Brighouse Town's trip to Silsden takes centre stage
The FA Cup takes centre stage for the lower league semi-pro clubs this weekend as the extra-preliminary round comes on the second Saturday of their season.
All five of the clubs involved at this stage have played two competitive fixtures, so there should be no ring rust from the close season.
The biggest focus will be on the derby between hosts Silsden and Brighouse Town.
The two clubs are from the same step on the pyramid system but the Cobbydalers play their football in the North West Counties League Premier Division , while Town are in the Baris Northern Counties East League's top tier.
They had planned a pre-season friendly but shelved that game once the FA Cup draw had been made because of fear of giving too much away.
It should be an intriguing contest, and the clubs will have one eye on Eccleshill United’s home tie with Glasshoughton Welfare as the winners will face each other in the preliminary round a fortnight later.
The Eagles were left behind by Glasshoughton last season after they were promoted to the top tier as runners-up of Division One.
Welfare’s higher standing helped them lure Eagles duo Andy Fieldhouse and John Cullen, so there will be added bite to the contest.
Liversedge have been handed a tough tie against opponents from the strong Northern League .
However, at least they have home advantage over West Auckland Town.
Thackley are also at home as they welcome Hebburn Town.
Albion Sports are still not eligible for the FA Cup, being in only their second season on the non-league ladder, so they have a Division One fixture, and are at home to newcomers Clipstone Welfare.
Bradford Park Avenue play their final friendly as they head to the coast to take on Whitby Town.
Boss John Deacey said: “It will be a nice trip to the seaside and a game on a nice surface, but it will be a tough one. Whitby are up for it this season and they will be contenders in the Evo-Stik Premier.”
Guiseley are also in friendly action away from home as they journey to Ossett Town.
