BRADFORD PARK AVENUE had to amend their pre-season fixture schedule but they are still on the road on Saturday as they head to Goole AFC.

Their original opponents were BRIGHOUSE TOWN but the Baris Northern Counties East League club instead are due to play against Huddersfield Town’s Academy tomorrow night after a late switch.

Avenue hastily rearranged and will now face Evo-Stik League Division One opposition. It has been a busy week for Horsfall boss John Deacey as he looks to trim his squad in readiness for the start of the Blue Square Bet North campaign.

He had between 22 and 25 players available for both opening warm-up games, against Thackley and last weekend’s draw at home to Dean Saunders’ Doncaster Rovers.

This week Deacey and assistant manager Mark Hume have been making tough decisions as to which players have impressed enough to be offered deals. But Avenue are still on the lookout for an experienced goalkeeper following the retirement of John Lamb.

Farsley and GUISELEY are also in friendly action as they go head to head at Throstle Nest in one of three weekend derby games.

The visiting Lions will still be riding the crest of a wave following their 1-0 home win over a full Huddersfield squad at Nethermoor last Saturday. Former Bantams youth player Danny Forrest scored the decisive goal, while new signing Wayne Brooksby made his debut.

Farsley come into the game on the back of a busy schedule. They hosted Leeds United a week ago and then FC Halifax Town on Tuesday, before travelling to Hemsworth MW tonight where they won 3-0. Goals came from Ryan Watson, Adam Priestley and Adam Muller.

THACKLEY already have three friendly games under their belt as they welcome ALBION SPORTS to Dennyfield for what will be the visitors’ first run-out this pre-season.

Both clubs will be in league action next Saturday as the NCE League makes an early start. Another local derby between clubs making the most of their final weekend before serious competition begins is at Clayborn as LIVERSEDGE host ECCLESHILL UNITED.

SILSDEN make the journey over the Pennine ridge to tackle Evo-Stik League Division One outfit Clitheroe in their penultimate warm-up game.
