Bradford City cup tie moved

City's season will now kick off on Saturday, August 11 after their Capital One Cup tie was moved forward.

The first-round visit to League One Notts County was scheduled to take place the following Tuesday.

But Barnsley agreed to cancel their planned friendly at Valley Parade, allowing City and County to change their cup date.

A Saturday afternoon clash should guarantee a bigger crowd with more away fans likely to make the trip.

It also gives City a clear week before they open their League Two campaign at Gillingham the Saturday after.

Good decision this, especially with the long trip to Gillingham for the league opener the following weekend. Might swell the number of away fans we take to Meadow Lane now. It's the difference between me getting a pass out for it now it's Saturday and not Tuesday! CTID

Meadow Lane, here I come with my new City shirt. A league cup game on a Saturday? now that's a first for me.

Maybe a better decision to have it on a Saturday, but £16 a ticket for a first round cup game at a not particularly exciting higher league team? No thanks, I'll miss it.
