Administrator Brendan Guilfoyle apologises to Bradford Bulls players
6:37pm Tuesday 3rd July 2012 in Sport By Sports Desk
Bulls players pictured leaving their Tong training base today
Brendan Guilfoyle has issued a statement about his scheduled meeting with Bulls players which did not go ahead this morning as originally planned.
Guilfoyle, partner at P&A Partnership and administrator at the club, said: “I had convened a meeting with the players for today.
“Late last night I decided to cancel it as I had no update for the players and told them to have a day off.
“Unfortunately it was too late for the message to get through by the time we contacted the captain, the players’ representatives and their solicitors.
“We have been in touch with the captain, Matt Diskin, to give a personal apology to him and his team-mates. I recognise how unsettling it was for the players.”
Guilfoyle said he had been overwhelmed by the turnout and support from fans at the Guide Post Hotel in Bradford last night, where an estimated 500 people turned up.
“I am sure the passion and tangible support offered by fans will play a significant part in any rescue,” he said.
“It has already had an effect. One businessman who had rejected any involvement rang me after the meeting and said he had changed his mind.
“He has now asked to look at the numbers, based on the loyalty and support shown by fans.”
The deadline for the administration has been extended to Tuesday, July 10 but Guilfoyle said there can be no further extension unless a purchaser is found.
This will enable the Bulls’ home match against London Broncos to go ahead on Sunday.
Guilfoyle also confirmed the statement made last night that there is no conspiracy to allow current directors to buy the club cheaply.
“I cannot state strongly enough that I am not speaking to any former directors or shareholders, or anyone who has ever acted as a director, about buying the club,” he said.
“I am desperately looking for ways for this club to survive and genuinely looking for purchasers.
“I would urge Bradford’s business community to rally round and see how they can save this club.
“This city should be proud of its fan base, who are a real asset to anyone buying Bradford Bulls.”

Noble Reconsiders Bulls Offer
Bradford Bulls Tuesday 3 Jul 2012 6:48pm
Brian Noble confirms he has been approached to coach the Bulls, but is now reconsidering the offer.
In an interview with The Guardian newspaper, Noble confirms that the Bulls administrators have contacted him about coaching the Bulls until the end of the season.
However, after having time to think about the offer, it seems that Noble will refuse it after stating he thinks "it might just be too tough a gig".
"The administrator phoned me up, told me the situation and asked if I could help out for a while, maybe until the end of the season," Noble told the Guardian.
"As a Bradfordian through and through who's been made a freeman of the city, and having spent 35 years at the club, I said 'yes'. That's been my only motive whatsoever, to try and help out."
"I've been thinking it over and it might just be too tough a gig. If people think I'm involved in it for any other sort of reason, I'm flabbergasted. There's no guarantees at the end of it because you don't know who's going to be the owners and what they'll want to do. First and foremost I'm sad and disappointed at what's happened to Mick, because he's a mate of mine.
"I really don't need all this vitriolic stuff being thrown at me. I'm happy with the company I'm working for – I've been offered two more jobs this week."

If true it makes a mockery of his statement "I cannot state strongly enough that I am not speaking to any former directors or shareholders, or anyone who has ever acted as a director, about buying the club,” he said. But I suppose they were just having a chin wag

If the man thinks anything about the club or anyone else, can I urge him to come out NOW and confirm he is not in the frame, nor will he ever be. In straight, unequivocal words so no one can accuse him of being disingenuous or playing games with semantics.
.
At some future time, he may choose to tell us why he chose to put the club into administration if he had no intent himself of buying it, or indeed why he ousted the previous board if he had intention of owning or running it. But that is for another day.
.
For now, until and unless he makes an unequivocal statement, I suggest many people will continue to believe he is ready to pounce at the last minute. So it's all down to you now Chris: make your play, or confirm you are out.

People don't want to hear Guilfoyle say Caisley is not going to acquire the club. They want to hear Caisley say it, and swear it. If BG is telling the truth and the whole truth, then the single biggest impediment to sorting the mess out is now Caisley's silence.

At the moment BG denies any plans, discussions or agreements. BN also now denies any plans or agreements and is now backing off due to 'vitriol' .
If I was involved in any suggestion of dodgy dealings which may be completely false, I would back off too and deny the dealings. If I was involved in any dodgy dealings, I would back off too and deny any dodgy dealings leaving the dodgy dealer to take the hit as it may or may not be that parties dealings to accept or deny.
That party would probably stay silent , as it may get more legally and criminally complicated and I could, phew.....walk away a free, but tainted man.
Of course all of my discussion I'd hypothetical and just me thinking, but perhaps there are more than me thinking similar things.
In the end, one has right to silence when the s .it hits the an, but the jury can nowadays, draw an inference from that silence.
The sad part is, other decent people may stay away from the whole thing not to get tarred with the same brush as the deniers and the silent people.

By the time administrators are appointed it's frequently the end for a company - the only way this is not the case is when new money comes in. In the sports world this seems to happen more often than not; therefore Bulls fan, en masse, seem to have decided that this whole thing is just a "bump in the road" that will somehow be passed over and survived by some clever corporate wrangling. Sorry, but you're probably wrong folks! In the vast majority of cases administration is the end if the road.
I sincerely hope that there is a future for the Bulls, and that the passion of the club's fans can prove a real contributing factor in the club's survival - or its resurrection in whatever form.

The vitriol aimed at Brendan Guilfoyle is totally inappropriate. It's evident that people don't understand the role and responsibilities of an Administrator. Appointed by the court when a company applies for administration, the administrator's primary responsibility is to secure the best outcome for the creditors of the insolvent company. This may be by getting the company back on its feet or by winding it up and disposing of any assets - whichever possible outcome better serves the interests of the creditors. The administrator is not responsible for the state that the club is in - that is down to the Directors who ran it into the ground; nor is he a miracle worker - he can't manufacture money out of nowhere. I sincerely hope that there is a future for the Bulls, and that the passion of the club's fans can prove a real contributing factor in the club's survival - or its resurrection in whatever form.

At the end of the day, what's best....Caisley and Nobby or no club at all????
People don't want to hear Guilfoyle say Caisley is not going to acquire the club. They want to hear Caisley say it, and swear it. If BG is telling the truth and the whole truth, then the single biggest impediment to sorting the mess out is now Caisley's silence.
.
Nobby is a good man deep down and will have the club's and city's interests at heart, as well of course, the chance of his dream job back.
BUT I think the stink of all of this might have frightened him off and anyone else who was going to help him.
Caisley has screwed up advertising his intentions weeks and weeks ago. No-one trusts him now. Now he is likely going to lose his shares and we may be going to lose our club because of his ego !
Guilfoyle may have to bite the bullet and sell to Greenwoods, so as not to be drawn into a pretty serious investigation.

the fans could see him off with solidarity.
Lets face it he is a solicitor who has to date in the last 5 years stumped up how much?
more likely taken it out with his agency fees.

food_for_thought wrote:Thanks food-for-thought for bringing some common sense back into the debate. Your post is sensible and accurate. All those wanting to see sympathy or decencey from the administrator will be disappointed, his duties are exactly as you point out and the confines within which he has to work likewise. Money can only come from an investor/s and cannot be magic'd up! Certainly this guy is not going to spend any time trying to be PoliticallyCorrect.
Surely in all other cases that is ok, but is that not a conflict of interest?
It does not help this situation where people think there are vested interests from CC.

A potential investor had to go to the fans forum Monday to register his interest, the owner of Icelolly.com hasn't had his calls returned... It goes on and on.
Im starting to think he wants us to go under.
