Baildon Jitsu Club have received civic approval for winning the Junior Jitsu Judo Nationals Team Shield for a SIXTH successive year.

The Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Dale Smith, attended a recent training session to award medals to those who triumphed at Walsall Judo Club in April.

Twenty team from around the United Kingdom took part, and Baildon Jitsu Club sent over 40 children, who won nine gold medals, eight silvers and ten bronzes.

The results again made instructors Raj Soren and Graham Williams, as well as club manager Jyoti Soren, proud, and they later rewarded the youngsters by giving them a party.

Bradley Wilson and Lucy Lawrence each won two golds, and Rianold Krok a gold and a silver.

Other gold medallists were Michael Emmett, who also won a bronze, Chandni Soren, who took two bronzes as well as a gold in the open category, Suraj Soren (plus an open bronze) and Rodrigo Krok, who also won a bronze.

Silver medallists were headed by Joseph Lawrence and Daniel Netherwood, with two each, plus Dawid Wozniak, Faizan Sheikh and Jacob Whiteley-Guest.

Harvey Lawrence won two bronzes, others being taken by Nathaniel Taylor, Sebastian Berko, Faiz Kader and Lila Whiteley-Guest.

Meanwhile, Jamie Lee achieved a brown belt and Lukhi Soren a dark blue belt in grading promotions.

Special awards went to: Ned Hawker, Ayshah Ahmed , Sabrina Zahir, Adam Mahmood, Taylor, Jamie Lee (2), Aaran Fiaz, Aadil Mahmoud, Amy Spence, Lila Whiteley-Guest and Sheikh.

Medal of attendance winners were: Oscar Allen, James Young, William Spence, Aadil Mahmood, Luke Briggs, Rayan Zahir, Nasik Zahir, Lukhi Soren, Hamza Hussain, Louis Fisher, Rizvan Faisal, Saara Asif, Sam Bryan, Hayden Sutcliffe, Joseph Day-Oram, Sameer Sheikh, Haris Sultan, Henrich Krok, Victor Bradley, Ifraz Zahir, Rayan Zahir, Nosheen Zahir, Nasik Zahir and Joseph Rogers.

The club have also been rewarded by being invited to give a demonstration on Positive Bradford Day on Friday. Baildon Jitsu Club train at Sir Titus Salt School in Saltaire; Bradford Grammar School; Beckfoot School, Bingley; Cafe West, Allerton; Bradford Ice Skating Arena, and a number of other venues.
