Well done Lads as Prajapati off mark
5:00pm Tuesday 19th June 2012 in Sport By Sports Desk
Prajapati recorded a welcome first win of the season in the West Riding Sunday Cricket Council, beating Westwood Park by three runs.
In a low-scoring game, captain Pritesh Lad was top-scorer for Prajapati and also took two wickets for two runs, including a caught-and-bowled, and a stumping too.
Their star bowler was veteran spinner Ashwin Lad, who took five Westwood Park wickets for four runs.
In stark contrast, Azeems amassed 204-4 as captain Mohammed Qadeer swung his bat for five sixes in his 72 not out, supported by Zulfiqar Ali (65no). Shamms 11 were never going to climb that mountain and crashed to 72 all out.
Despite a good win last week, Shaadi Cards went down to Attock Sweet Centre’s team effort of 130 all out, while getting only 81 all out in reply.
When Euro Windows put on 130 in their innings they must have thought they were in with a good chance of ending their losing run.
That was a forlorn hope, as Attock United – led by Aurangzeb Khan – made 134-4, Waheed Rehman top-scoring with 58 not out.
Put in to bat on Diamond’s Northwood Park, Skipton Kashmir managed 106 all out. Diamond passed the total with four wickets to spare, giving them their fifth win.
Attock Tigers won the battle of the new boys, their 191 all out too good for Mayfield Royals, who could only manage 60 all out.
Two matches never took place as their grounds were declared unfit. They were Kashmir v Manningham – where the umpires waited until 4pm to see if the pitch would dry out – and AMCC v Khan CC.
