Bradford City handed Gillingham road trip
9:00am Monday 18th June 2012 in Sport
By Simon Parker, Bradford City Reporter
City will take the long road to kick off the new season after being handed an opening-day trip to Gillingham.
The first home game promises to be a tasty affair with the arrival of ambitious league new boys Fleetwood.
City make an early visit to Rotherham’s New York Stadium on September 1 before another popular trip to Accrington.
They will renew acquaintances with Yorkshire neighbours York at Valley Parade on October 13.
After December treks to Southend and Wycombe, Christmas week is kind on the Bantams with home games with Accrington and Rochdale and a New Year’s Day trip to Morecambe.
But the fixture machine has put a real sting in the tail with all three West Country visits crammed into a three-week spell.
Plymouth away is scheduled for a Tuesday night - just four days before City are back in Devon to face Exeter. And the Easter Monday trip to Torquay is no April Fool's joke.
Once again Cheltenham provide the final away opposition on the last day.

Forget jj re-signing he has signed a new contract at wednesday
Like I said every former City player since 1996 appears to be linked with us at the moment.

So now crawley have made an aproach about Riedy. hope he doesnt go, he would be hard to replace!
parky said we needed 6 or 7 players, if Rambo, Oliver and Reid all go like syers did, that means we'd need 10.
hope we can hang on to our better players.

.
This has got to be the most unenthusiastic I have been pre-season. I hope these promised 'quality' signings materialise or we could be in serious trouble.

There hasn't been many close-seasons that I haven't waited eagerly for the fixture lists to come out. However, I can't say I am bothered about who we play and when. At the moment I'm more concerned about who we will end up filling our squad with. . This has got to be the most unenthusiastic I have been pre-season. this has to be my lowest point since 1957 whenI started supporting the Bantams. The club is seriously on it's knees and players are unwilling to come here knowing that they could be out on their ar when a new manager is inevitably appointed. Well that is my theory and i am sticking to it!!!

Nice one Tyker, just think we must have ran into each other all those years ago when I used to go down just to watch the new grass grow pre-season and then came along the possibles v probables when our new "world beaters" showed off their talents.
Main stand behind the dug outs with dad, then into teenage years the bradford end and kop, changing ends at half time then back in t'paddock!!

I am pretty sure that the advent of 24 hour news and sport has led to an evaporation of your patience. This is NORMAL. We have already got the best signing that we could have hoped for in Davies and it is likely to be two weeks before most signings are done at most clubs. Summer used to mean absolutely no news for several weeks after a season and then some slow build up when the pre-season friendlies started.
We still have the inevitable disappointment of England failing at a major tournament to experience before we should be worrying about the next domestic season. Relax, enjoy the summer...

Even those teams already out have better skill in their teams than England
