Impossible we'll play as badly against Wakefield, says Bradford Bulls boss after St Helens setback

Mick Potter has faith in his side to respond with a victory over Wakefield Mick Potter has faith in his side to respond with a victory over Wakefield

Mick Potter is confident the Bulls will find the right response to their St Helens drubbing when they take on Wakefield next weekend.

Potter was left bitterly disappointed after his injury-hit side crashed to a 54-0 defeat at Langtree Park last Friday.

The absence of so many players through injury and a short four-day turnaround from the Castleford game certainly did the Bulls no favours.

But Potter admitted there was no justification for such a dismal showing and is expecting a much-improved performance against Richard Agar’s side.

“I know the players can do better than they did last Friday,” said Potter. “I know they can do their individual jobs better and I take confidence from that.

“We just cannot perform like that two games in a row.

“It’s near impossible, so I would back our players to put in the right kind of performance against Wakefield.”

The Bulls fashioned brief spells of pressure at Langtree Park but Potter added: “We might have put a bit of pressure on in spasms, but the game is about 80 minutes.

“We’re not doing the resilient, tough things for 80 minutes.

“But we can do that, as we have showed this season.

“With all the injuries we have, we could have done with a four-week break, never mind a two-week break. But it’s good for the players that they have been able to rest up mentally and physically before getting back on the horse against Wakefield next weekend.”

Olivier Elima is set to captain France against Wales at the Racecourse Ground today.

Both the Bulls’ Academy games this weekend have been cancelled.

The game at Wigan is off due to them having too many players involved in last night’s England Academy game, while the game at Odsal will not be played due to a waterlogged pitch.

We must now kick on and stay in the top eight or even improve and move higher if possible .

But the injuries are going to dertermine where we go

We must all be positive and keep going to support the club

I would le to have seen the club carry on with the Quest and raised some more money if we all gave £20 then this would help in lowering the money the club need to survive

No more money from supporters. Firmly with the directors to sort out this utter mess.

Much as I love the club, i agree with rugbyguru. We were promised that £1m was needed, half before the end of April. Now we find that the £500K raised didn't scratch the surface and Caisley had investors in place...but now he's been in for over a month and we're no better off. I'm not blindly handing over anymore of my hard earned cash...it's time the new directors put up. I gave the best part of £300 the first time round under the false pretense that it would be half sorted...I, like many others, won't be doing that again in a hurry. And yeah, I love the club...I've been supporting them for well over a decade but I'm not in the habit of just giving money away with little or no return.
If I were a millionaire, I'd be investing without looking at the books...purely from the heart. But I'd want full control of the club and use the assets for more than 14-games a year!

I wont be trusting them to spend another 20p of my money let alone 20 quid. How they got away with the last con is a mystery but once bitten as they say. Still, it's up to the individual to do what they want with their money and if throwing it at the club makes them feel like a true fan then do it. Another saying is "a fool and his money....."

I have to hand it to Mick Potter the fact he wants to stay and finish the job he started speak volumes for the man, he has been up against it from day 1, inheriting McNamaras mess, then the injury situation beggars belief, a club in the financial mess its in, and he wants to stay??? theres many a superleague coach and other staff would have been running for the exit before now

Mick and his wife who also works at the club have given up a great deal of there time to help our club
through these dark times

I could not praise them enough along with al the supporters players and staff who have given so much

Yes i asked the question would people be willing to give more and i agree it is now the time for the board to stand up and be counted and back these people

But ever little thing matters what we do counts to keeping our club from the vullchers who are sweeping over the club

Coulby on Radio Leeds said the investors are not willing to give money just to pay the tax bills. It looks like we are in a tricky position of needing to pay off tax before money is given to us. Administration may now be the only way out. Was Coulby preparing us all for this yesterday? I hope not but fear it will be so.

It now seems obvious that administration is inevitable. The unpaid PAYE bill, added to the VAT and image rights taxes, means that no investor/benefactor will come in until the taxes have been paid and these cannot be paid out of existing resources. An investor will want a club free of tax debts just like the investor at Wakefield. So we must be prepared for some good and promising players to be sold but we should be able to stay in the premiership though with no chance of a top eight this season after deduction of points. A sad end to a once promising season, but in a month's time, when the taxes are sorted, there may be some light over Odsal. Meanwhile, take heart from the improvements at Wakefield after their dire start to the season, coming out of administration.

Wakie are no st helens so should not get thumped which makes potters point baffling. Whats happening with finances, where is caisley, where are investors, where's wally ?

No good looking for a wally, you fit the bill. Yep, hood certainly took us all for mugs. Not telling the whole story. Thought image rights had been paid. Only, vat and paye, outstanding. But the new board sound shell out, that's what directors are for, they bring money to the club, their's, not investors, should pay this.

As a taxpayer I would be appalled if the bulls got away with what could be construed as theft. They have basically spent money that did not belong to them.
Ejection from SL and prison for those guilty of frittering away the exchequers money are the only suitable punishments here I'm afraid.

Do I detect an element of the gloater in those comments?

Perhaps as a Leeds fan
(I assume that Shelf rhino, isn't the description of a body shape?)
it's a case of "let those without sin cast the first stone, or people in glass houses etc.?"

What a prawn, you are shelf rhino. You will also be asking for rangers fc, Portsmouth fc, crusaders rl, to be taken to court for fraud, as well, I take it. Plus nearly every major company in the uk, who have a tendency to defraud the government. Also, your beloved rhinos aren't angels, wonder if they paid tax on the money they rcd for Harris going to rugby union. Anyway, pfts, I trust you are going to contact hood and bennett, re your money not the current board.
