Farsley AFC seeking new press officer
Farsley have an interim press officer after James Grayson called time on his four-year spell at the club due to increased work commitments.
Grayson recently finished his degree in sports journalism at Huddersfield University and his career in the industry is just about to take off.
Still only a young man, Grayson has a lot of experience to draw on as he enjoyed a long spell handling the media for Bradford Park Avenue before moving to Throstle Nest.
During his stint with Farsley, he had to learn fast and on the front line as the club gained promotion to the Conference League, hit financial difficulties, entered administration, was wound up and then emerged from the ashes as a new venture.
They were certainly interesting times and a new situation to deal with on a daily basis while Grayson was at the Nest.
He also has an insight into the game that few journalists have as he is a qualified referee.
Grayson’s short-term replacement is Mark Rawlinson, who has done some media and press relations work for Farsley under Grayson’s tutelage.
Rawlinson was elevated to press officer this week but warned: “It will only be until just after the start of the new season because I’m starting university myself in September.
"It’s not just that I won’t have as much spare time after that but mainly because I’m going to Staffordshire.
“There is no chance of me continuing, so the club will be looking for someone who can do the job. It is hard work and time consuming but there are benefits.
"It provides very good experience and is a great role for anyone who wants to be really involved with the club.”
