Keighley-based divers Jenny Cowen and Chloe Hurd both took part in finals at the British Gas Diving Championships at Ponds Forge, Sheffield last night.
Cross Roads’ Cowen (City of Leeds) was particularly impressive in the women’s ten-metre platform preliminaries, finishing third with 343.85 points after a noteworthy reverse two-and-a-half somersaults and an inward three-and-a-half somersaults.
And the 21-year-old maintained that momentum in the final of what was generally recognised to be the most even event of the three days of Olympic qualification at the south Yorkshire venue.
She moved up the leaderboard with her inward three-and-a-half somersaults but eventually finished seventh with 268.00 points.
Haworth’s Hurd (Leeds City College Aquatics) was eighth in the women’s three-metre springboard with 234.45 points.
