Brett Kearney believes coaching team are getting best out of Bradford Bulls youngsters

Brett Kearney would love to see Mick Potter remain as Bulls coach beyond this season.

Odsal is awash with uncertainty as the club’s new board of directors seek to raise the cash needed to avoid entering administration.

In the interim the Bulls remain in ‘special measures’, which prevents them from registering new contracts with current players or potential new recruits.

The clock is ticking on the battle to avoid administration and the potentially devastating consequences which could leave the club’s Super League licence in jeopardy.

A total of 17 of the Bulls first-team squad are out of contract at the end of the season, along with Potter and his coaching staff.

The Bulls boss recently spoke of his desire to stay at Odsal for a third year and finish the job he has started.

When you see some of the young guys and how they’ve improved, and the way the team has improved overall, that comes from the coaching

Brett Kearney

And full back Kearney – who missed Friday’s drubbing at St Helens with a hamstring strain, a match which saw Ian Sibbit break his arm – said: “I’d love to see Mick stay and continue the work he’s doing.

“He’s built a good coaching team there with Franny Cummins and Lee St Hilaire.

“I think they perform their roles really well and they’ve bonded with the players.

“When you see some of the young guys and how they’ve improved, and the way the team has improved overall, that comes from the coaching.

“You don’t just improve from nowhere. It would be great to see Mick stay for another year.

“I suppose that if new investment is found then whoever comes in as the new powers that be are going to want things their way. It’s going to be an interesting time.”

Kearney, who is not out of contract at the end of the season, says a solution to the Bull’s financial crisis must be found soon.

He said: “Obviously at this time of year you start to hear of a few signings. Things are happening now and clubs are talking to players.

“They have their deadlines when they are allowed to speak but there are people hovering around and getting an idea of what boys at this club are wanting to do.

“You can’t leave it until the last minute, otherwise there could be a situation like a couple of years ago when we were just trying to build some sort of squad and not a strong squad like we want to.”

Meanwhile, the Bulls have revealed that second-row forward Sibbit did break his arm in Friday night’s defeat at St Helens. Potter had feared the worst in the wake of the 54-0 mauling and yesterday’s news confirmed the outcome.

Bulls football manager Stuart Duffy said: “It’s another blow for the club and for Ian, who has been champing at the bit to get back on the field.

“He had an operation yesterday and is expected to miss the next 12 weeks.”

Sibbit was playing only his second game since injuring his shoulder at Castleford in round two of the season.

Not a great time to be talking of improvements, a 54 0 drubbing still hanging in the air suggests otherwise, however loooking at the bigger picture i have to agree that things have improved from previous years, however our luck with injuries is as bad as ever.
I would like to see MP get a new deal but untill the uncertainty over the future of the club is resolved i dont think we will be hearing anything on contract talks.

As we are in "special measures" from the RFL ( maybe because they are one of the groups we owe money to?) wouldnt it be better to bite the bullet and enter admin now? Get it over and done with. We may as well be now anyway with a transfer/contract embargo. The only thing playing into our favour might be the fact that of the 17 players who are out of contract in November, how many of them would get an offer from another Superleague club?

kearny, sammut, manufakuoa, to name 3 n admin cant happen its the worst thing that could happen. coz then its not just the 17 we nee to think about, every player then becomes a free agents so wel loose lulia n le starange n whitehead n the rest. i think the only optoin we have is selling bateman as much as it pains me to say it we cant pay him as much as warrington n its been made official they have made a 6 figure offer for him so we should put the club 1st and sell him to ensure we can move forward. 1 player is never as important as the club its self.

Why don't we wait and see what happens before we sell our crow jewells. Have a look at some other forums and you will see things are moving and admin might not be the next thing. AND we may be able to keep these great young players.
Doom merchants!!

Sorry Old Dave.
Not many survive the throes of going into administration.

I think we shouldn't kid ourselves that, this could even be a solution to anything but permanent pariah status, and a long spell, as an also ran.
Wakefield were lucky that's all, and were fortunate to find a financial backer with the right ideas to capitalise on that luck. But we cannot rely on Luck to see us through, as it's never a 50-50 shout is it?

We do not want to loose any of the young players and some other senior players who have given time and effort to keep our club afloat

What we do need is the new board whom no one seems to have heard from since they got hood to resign

Back up what they have stated in regard to the finances and these so called interested investors or is this yet another cover up story by Mr Caisley and Co.
Was Hood right in what he as said in the press.

lets get the club moving forward get someone to make a statement to the press and the fans and players who deserve this for the effort they have shown.
Start signing some of these players before they are snapped up by other clubs they keep telling us from the back ground that they want to keep these guys now is the time to show what they are made of or is this all just talk

I have to chuckle that on the back of a 54 - 0 drubbing, a player who cried off at the last minute, supports a contract extension for Mr Potter! First of all, money will be the prime influence but, on top of that, what is Mr Potter prepared to offer the club that we have not seen over the past two years? Can he motivate players to perform above their potential for a financially-strapped club? As I have said previously, my verdict on Mr Potter's tenure is reserved until August. He isn't going anywhere. The predators are not circling. It is nice to see a player coming out and showing support but, at the end of the day, is Mr Kearney prepared to play for the Bulls under someone else? First, and foremost, a player should be dedicated and devoted to the club. If not, thank you and goodbye.

Friday was an embarrassment - to be nilled by anyone is very poor... for anyone to want Potter to stay is 'barking' we need a change in every sphere of the club from top to bottom..I Fear administration + the sale of Bateman + Whitehead is our only way to avoid administration .....no way we will make the top 8 with Hull KR winning again tonight ... another year of dross... said it before + nowagain + again until he goes ... POTTER OUT !!!!!!!

Think we might be being a tad harsh!this result has been on the cards for ages! We r a club with no cash, half the squad injured, burning out our youngsters who need more nurturing, and add the problems off the field, which despite what the players say will be on their minds, and I believe we have done relatively well. We are not world beaters. Carney and Clarkey said they would love to see us with a complety fit squad to chose from, as would we all because they would be able to make top 8 if we could. Unfortunately, its not meant to be again. We will struggle now with the level of injuries to make the top 8, but fate has not been to kind this season. There is not much we can do except hope the players not injured get enough of a rest this week, and come out fighting next week. I will be happy if they do fight and don't win many given the circumstances!

What a terrible post, csut74, why blame Potter, injuries happen, if you haven't the back up players because of those injuries( I believe at least 14 players in total) these things happen, nilled, so what. " I fear admin + sale of Bateman, Whitehead, is our only way to avoid admin." right, please explain the logic in that. As to Potter out, NO COACH, and I mean that could do anything with the injuries we have. As to another year of dross, your words, I do believe we are still in play off positions and above the rhinos. Get a grip, man, we'll be there at the end, oh ye of little faith. ................
To all, who think being nilled is an embarrassment, grow up, it's happened before it will happen again, that's the nature of the game. We gave them out, so we should be able to take them, in turn. It's a shame to see so many of original posters on this site have gone. Where and Why?

Can't believe clubs aren't breaking down our door to get at our defensive coach Lee St Hilaire, almost 90 points conceded in the last 2 games (And that includes a game against one of the worst teams) Yeah Brett, the coaches are doing a fantastic job, 10th place beckons.

it's not wingeing its the truth do you no any other team in super league who's had the amount of injuries we have had over such a sustained period its been nearly 3 seasons we have had these injury woes. It doesn't help with buying over the hill players and players who came with injury worries but you have to play what you've got. give o'brien a run and some of the other youngsters.

Agree with all you say Philip, from the very start of the season our injuries have been crippling, excuse the pun, it would be difficult to see any team operate more successfully with these levels of injuries, let alone coupled with the Off Field situation at the Bulls.
.
You ask why so many of the original posters on this site no longer contribute, well its really very simple Philip, many and myself included have finally given way to the Trolls who have been allowed to hijack this forum and reduce it to a complete joke. User names have been cloned and used to spout rubbish (mine included). I personally know many and can assure you they remain committed Bulls fans but feel the same way as I regarding the way this site has been allowed to become. Check out the post immediately following yours to see one of the major culprits. 'nuff said!

I don't see why responsible and thoughtful posters should stop posting because of a few irritating idiots whose comments can be passed over with the contempt they deserve. Carry on and outnumber these juveniles. But I agree that the T&A should monitor the site more rigorously.
