Scotland’s Keith Thom not only retained his JM Glendinning Group Ilkley Lawn Tennis Club Wheelchair singles title but also won the inaugural doubles event, partnering Caroline Weaving.

Although this was the fourth staging of the event, entries were double what they were in 2011, and Ilkley’s Tony Jeffers was so inspired by what he saw in 2010 that he took up the sport and gained some valuable experience this year.

Andy Holder, director of JM Glendinning (Life & Pensions) Ltd, said: “We are delighted to have again sponsored the event this year.

"The standard of play and skill exhibited was fantastic and we wish the winner, Keith Thom, all the best in his bid to qualify for the Paralympics in London.”
