Leeds United: Make your mind up time for Ross McCormack
12:10pm Wednesday 9th May 2012 in Sport
Leeds manager Neil Warnock expects to learn whether striker Ross McCormack wants to stay at the club “in the next couple of weeks”.
McCormack, 25, the club’s leading scorer this season with 19 goals, has one year remaining on his current contract and has been made a new offer.
Midfielder Adam Clayton also had 12 months to run but has been transfer-listed after turning down his new deal.
When quizzed about the Scot, Warnock said: “We’ll have to cross that bridge when we come to it. I think we’ve offered good, increased contracts to a number of players and it’s down to them.
“We’ve already made a statement that [Robert] Snodgrass is the best contract that the club has made for many years.
“They’re not all financially at that kind of level but we’ve offered Ross what we feel is a good wage, whether it’s acceptable to Ross I think we’ll know in the next couple of weeks.”
