City reserves 0, Hull City reserves 4

City’s reserves suffered a comprehensive defeat at the hands of Hull in their final Central League East Division fixture of the season at Valley Parade.

Striker Lewis Clarkson, who had scored in the reverse fixture earlier this month, did most of the damage as he netted twice (16th and 81st minutes), and also won a 71st-minute penalty for the Tigers.

Daniel Emerton saw his initial spot-kick saved by Jamie Annerson but tucked away the rebound, before helping himself to another goal in injury time to complete the scoring.

After featuring in the second-string victory over Scunthorpe last week, trialists Josh Windass – son of former City striker Dean – and Joe Leesley were again selected.

Aston Villa defender Richard Bryan, the third Bantams trialist on show, was another player hoping to impress the watching City management but he did not reappear for the second half.

Adam Baker, fresh from his appearance on the bench for the first team at Cheltenham on Saturday, was – like against Scunthorpe – selected in attack alongside Leesley.

City reserves: J Annerson, C Harrop (A Boote 56), F Bass, J Windass, D McGivern, R Bryan (J Fisher 46), J Nanje-Ngoe, S Brown, J Leesley, A Baker, T Marshall (L Swain 64). Subs (not used): C Tongue, C Bower.
