    Same,same,
We concede to many set pieces and free kicks against us and dont defend properly.
Go a goal down and we start to play and look a threat going forward.
We lack real width in the squad when Reid isn't playing.
I don't care what anybody says jack compton was well worth a 2 year contract at cty , wingers are like gold dust (good ones anyway)
Superb second half effort against a side who haven't lost at home.
But when we learn to play 90 mins at a tempo , we will win more games at this level.
Promotion push next season , no chance!!!.
Major surgery is required to get us into the midtable positions.
I agree with your comment re Compton. When PP got MOM award, Compton was a regular that month and our dip in form coincided with Jack's departure.

Compton was more than capable of playing on the right and was unlucky not to be awarded a long term deal.
He WAS offered a deal. HE Compton turned it down. If it wasn't long enough for him then that was HIS choice but he was offered a deal. how many more times do some of you folks have to be told?
yeh but he might have been offered a tenner a week. Does that count?

More seriously though he probably felt he had shown enough, especially in light of some of his team-mates performances. Like anyonrein employment he would have wanted some security for him and his family.

PS i don't know the details of your stats regarding Compton at St. Johnstone but perhasp he is been made to fight for a place rather than have one given to him as happened to him at city with Reid. Again more seriously Parky's best run of results and arguably performances coincided with Compton in the side/squad. The games after he left we conceded 3 in each i think. May just be coincidence that,..... but Compton was at the very least a good back up for reid and also showed as Parky himself admitted that he could do a good job on the right. Indeed would he be better than Fagan has offered there? We have had to use Flynn recently out of position to accomodate Reid,s time on the bench. We have also used resources trying to find alternatives e.g. Haworth and Atkinson, who neither reached the level Compton showed. Indeed they are now behind a forward and midfielder for their 'natural' positions. Total waste that we could have used elsewhere. Keeping Compton would have resolved alot of our issues imo.

You can toe the party line and official stance but Compton like others wasn't in 'favour' and it could be argued that their destiny appeared to have already been decided. Indeed it was only due to the great form in the cup games that i feel enabled Compton to be brought back into the fold having been replaced without really been assessed by the incoming manager, which is more than can be said for Mitchell and Stewart( the latter was also a useful alternative for the right wide role issues we have had).

You could manipulate the question another way Lonnie and say that we weren't able to offer Compton a deal good enough to entice him. Thus If we couldn't afford or entice Compton with a deal how could we then offer a deal for Benson? Or expect us to next year to be able to strengthen the squad, to the" reasonable degree" you say we need to, other than using other teams cast-off's, and cheap options, oh and more cheap loans....."

Shrewsbury 1 City 0

City could not make it an Easter double as they became the latest victims of Shrewsbury's unbeaten home record.

Having beaten Southend on Good Friday, Phil Parkinson's side were looking to shock another of the promotion pack.

But there was no repeat of their New Year's Eve victory as they suffered a sixth straight defeat on the road.

Having started fairly brightly, City were undone by Shrewsbury's third corner in the 16th minute.

They could not clear an almighty scramble in the box and right back Jermaine Grandison scored from close range.

Mark Wright was instantly denied a second by a good save from Matt Duke and the winger was just wide with a curler.

City were under the cosh with Grandison a real danger on Shrewsbury's right flank.

But Craig Fagan wasted a great chance to equalise after 27 minutes, volleying wide from right in front of goal after James Hanson had nodded the ball in this path.

Parkinson had named an unchanged starting line-up. But Kyel Reid and Chris Dagnall both came on for the second half.

Fagan had an early half-volley saved by Chris Neal as City were more of a match for their high-flying hosts.

Matt Duke tipped over a free-kick from Matt Richards but had one or two indecisive moments.

Reid threatened a couple of times but City could not find an equaliser.
