Hull KR 24 Bradford Bulls 36

Hull KR 24 Bradford 36

The Bulls stunned Hull KR with a superb second-half comeback at Craven Park.

Jason Crookes scored a hat-trick as the Bulls pulled off an improbable win after they had trailed 24-8 with 25 minutes left to play.

Mick Potter’s men then ran in five tries after that as Crookes dived in twice, to complete his treble, along with scores from Matt Diskin, Brett Kearney and Keith Lulia – with Karl Pryce scoring in the first half on his second debut for the Bulls.

The stunned hosts had surged into their lead with Kris Welham, Mickey Paea and Josh Hodgson going over before the break and Craig Hall added a fourth soon after the re-start.

But from there things fell apart for Rovers to allow Bradford to jump ahead of them in the Stobart Super League table.

the future is bright, the future is golden. Crookes, Addy, Whitehead, Bateman run fast and directly and keep the ball alive and play without fear. At last we have a centre in Lulia and didn't Crookes benefit from that but he had to score difficult tries and he was a revelation. Growing in confidence all the time. Diskin had possibly his best game for the Bulls and was a true leader on the field. Good to see Pryce playing well and he can only get better, we hope. And Walker defended for his life. Great for Potter, this win. And for those Saints fans who blamed him for only leading their club to the grand final but not winning it, how do they feel now after four straight losses with Potter's replacement.

Great win by the Bulls,at 24-8,I must be honest I thought we were out of it especially with only two subs. But the lads showed great character and no mean skill to take over the game and show us of what they are capable of.The early defence still gives me cause for concern, but they showed in attack that they can match up most in the Super League.Well done lads and keep it up.COYB.

In the first 10 mins we looked out on our feet - as if we had played a full 80 - but for me the introduction of Addy and Tom transformed the game. Addy was awesome and brought so much diverse skill - passing & kicking game. On the right side Samut, Bateman, Lulia, Crookes are all running of each other well, and this should only improve.

I appreciate that MP will need to find a place for Elima, but I think you should ask him to move up front and leave Whitehead & Bateman in SR. Addy will now get a run at LF if Langers is out, although Langers was outstanding against Wire and too need him on the park.

Chev had prob his best game for Bulls in defense in the last 20 was impresive.

Nas looked good, and again as we will be down on props again in the next few weeks, move Elima into front row.

Lets back it up now against a vulnerable Saints team then Salford away.

At last we have found 2 aussies that are living up to their reputations. Nas was the best prop on the field, who worked his socks off and was looking for offloads. K.L looked like the best centre we have seen for a long time, hence its no coincidence our left side scored most of the tries. The young ENGLISH guys looked great too. Thought Pryce still looks lazy and still gas a lot to do. With some other quality players to come back, we are looking better than the last few years.

I was gobsmacked at how well Crookes finished the tries. He must be enjoying having a good old fashioned centre inside him who is looking to draw the opposition and feed the winger. I also commented at the game how fit Chev looks. He has really got himself into shape and looks big and strong. He had a very good game. I have to say though that I thought Karl still looks lazy at times. He never came inside looking for work and a decent winger should have scored that interception or you may as well have a forward out there. Purtell may be fit next weekend so I would link him up with Chev. What a good pair of wings we might have then? Agree with above about the young forwards. They all held their hand up last night and “toughed” it out with a fair degree of skill. Hope langers, Scrutton and Elima are fit next week though. This result doesn’t suddenly mean we are now world beaters, far from it. But it was a sign that the team is coming together slowly and I was delighted for potter and the other staff.

What a fantastic effort last night from the boys. Getting used to waking up on a Sunday a very proud Bull.
Danny Addy was immense last night - frustrating that he was in the team due to injuries - the guy gave everything and that is all we ask.
Bateman was his usual brilliant also - we have a very bright future.
And in Keith Lulia, dare I say it, i think we may have filled a hole from Mr Hape - he does look the real deal and it is great for Crookes to have a centre like that inside him.
Really hoping for the same again next week and we can turn them Saints over....

Point taken viking. The question now is what happens when Purtell is fit possibly next week? I also feel a little sorry for Ainscough. The lad tries his heart out but I just don't see him getting a game when the likes of Kear, Pryce, Chev, Purtell and Plat all seem to be vying for that right wing. If Ainscough was the size of Chev he would be devastating. Is he just too small? It just seems a shame for him. It looks like Sykes is completely out of Potters plans. Could do with moving him on and getting another half back as Lulia looked very good last night and one of our overseas players will have to go in September and Lulia / sammut / Bert are all on one year. Sammuts one year dispensation finishes then. Who do we release? If bert and Lulia continue to play well it would be a shame to lose them.

its not the overseas quota thats the problem. problem is they both count on non-fed trained quota. Sammut has a dispensation for this year only which is why we can accomodate both. next year they both count so are in competition for the same non-fed trained spot.

Could do with moving him on and getting another half back as Lulia looked very good last night and one of our overseas players will have to go in September and Lulia / sammut / Bert are all on one year. Sammuts one year dispensation finishes then. Who do we release? If bert and Lulia continue to play well it would be a shame to lose them.[/p]
Lulia is on a two year deal. But I was thinking about this...If Bert has a Tongan passport then he's off overseas quota...and if Sammut has a Maltese passport then wouldn't he be be ruled off both quotas??[/p]
its not the overseas quota thats the problem. problem is they both count on non-fed trained quota. Sammut has a dispensation for this year only which is why we can accomodate both. next year they both count so are in competition for the same non-fed trained spot. mdn

I am sure someone at the club told me we are one over for next year and one will need to go. Hope I am wrong but it may be a tough decision if Bert and Sammut perform well. Will one of the stand-offs be ready to step up next year - or possibly Briggs if he is still in Potters plans.

Fantastic win for Bradford.

Kearney deserved Man of the Match in my opinion. He had a couple of breaks and scored a try of his own. I don't know why people criticize him to be honest.

Crookes' hat trick was excellent.

Lulia provided great service to Crookes, setting up two of his tries with one-handed passes, and he is strong and fast. He is what a centre should be.

Agree with the comments above that Addy, Whitehead and Bateman are looking good.

I think we need Elima back next week because Langers might be out and Scruton is injured as well.

I'll be excited if Purtell is back because we can either play him wing or centre on that right hand side, with Walker or Pryce. Lulia and Crookes should be kept together down the left.

St Helens are out of the top eight, haha! I think with the strong, consistent performances of Wakefield away, Wire at home and Hull KR away, we can beat Saints. No doubt the Sky pundits will all vote for Saints to win though.

You must be joking. Sammut is hard working, elusive and brings flair to the side. Back up goal kicker as well.

Can i just say i have just registered, as cant believe what i am reading. Sammut yes is a quality player, but some of you need to go back to the last 3 matches and watch Jeffries control and organise every player on the field. He is calling the plays and causing teams to be worried. Both Sammut and Jeffries off contract at end of season, would pick Jeffries everyday of the week, he is our most experienced half at the club yet hasnt even been deserved a comment from anyone. Crookes finally been given opportunity he deserves, Bateman is a quality player but needs to learn to pass and use players outside of him. (Hull KR game he created overlap but didnt pass the ball). Ollie will come in against Saints for the boys that got injured. Keith and Bert showing great signs of whats to come. Gale who??

And the young players are garbage, according to the Insider. Medley is a clown was his last posting. So Bateman, Crookes, Addy, Whitehead, Burgess are not good enough. Just remember that because, of course, you are always right.
