Silsden boss Chris Reape admits his trio of new signings are “champing at the bit” for league action after the club suffered their fifth successive postponement last week.
The Cobbydalers have snapped up strike pair Steve Palfrey from Harrogate Railway and Mike Garrod from Thackley, while Bradford City youth midfielder Tom Marshall has joined on loan.
But none have featured to date as winter weather has played havoc with Silsden’s fixture list, with last Saturday’s clash at home to AFC Liverpool being frozen off.
Having started 2012 in style with a 4-0 win at Padiham – ending a six-game run without victory – the Keighley Road side have been kicking their heels.
Reape said: “It’s been so frustrating. We’ve got three new players and they can’t get a game.”
Palfrey gave an early glimpse of his potential when he scored a hat-trick in a hastily-arranged friendly at home to Liversedge last week.
“The strikers linked up very well and they are just itching to get into league action,” said Reape.
“It will feel like starting over again but the lads are in good spirits and just champing at the bit to get going.”
If temperatures improve, Silsden are due to visit fourth-placed Premier Division rivals Glossop North End in the North West Counties League on Saturday.
“I know they have applied for promotion so they will be looking to push on,” said Reape.
“But we are looking to push on too and are aiming for a top-half finish in the table.”
