A Bradford City calendar mistakenly featuring Hull striker Dele Adebola on the cover has been withdrawn at the club’s request.

The calendar was designed by Just Sport Pro Club, who have the licence to run all Nike shops including the City one at Valley Parade.

City provided images for the cover but were not part of the proofing. The pictures included a pre-season shot of Guy Branston challenging one-time Bantams loanee Adebola in a friendly at the KC Stadium.

But when the picture was used in the front-cover montage, Branston had been cropped off. The embarrassing blunder came to light at Saturday’s game against Rochdale.

City director of operations David Baldwin said: "We were just asked for some imagery by the printers which we sent over. We didn’t get to see it afterwards because it wasn’t our calendar.

"It wasn’t sent back to retail for proofing so the calendar went straight on sale with that wrong cover. But we’ve had it taken off sale now and they are sorting it.

"We haven’t incurred any costs in production because it was nothing to do with us really. It was down to the shop licensee - we didn’t make any money from sales.

"But obviously as soon as we realised the error, we insisted that it was removed.

"I’d like to thank the fans who brought it to my attention in a constructive manner. For those who had already bought the calendar, I suppose they have a collector's item now!"
