Yorkshire’s LV= County Championship match against Hampshire at the Rose Bowl is heading towards a draw.
After rain delayed the start of play on day three until 3pm, Michael Carberry moved within eight of his hundred in a shortened afternoon session as the hosts replied to Yorkshire’s 532 with 215-2 from 57 overs.
Hampshire, starting the day at 116-2, have added 99 runs in 28 overs this afternoon.
Carberry, who will resume this evening on 92, and South African Kolpak batsman Neil McKenzie (68 not out) have looked untroubled on a flat Rose Bowl pitch.
Yorkshire have hardly created an opportunity to take a wicket this afternoon.
Hampshire have another 23 overs left tonight in which to reduce their 317-run deficit.
Seemingly, the only way that this match could end in anything other than a draw is if the two captains get their heads together and contrive a finish tomorrow.
