More than a thousand boys and girls from primary schools across the city took part in the Bradford School Sports Partnerships Year Three/Four and Year Five mini-tennis competitions at Titus Salt School.
The children had been receiving tennis coaching to prepare them for local cluster competitions, with the winners – featuring some of the best young players from Bradford – qualifying for the finals day.
Burley Woodhead Primary School beat St Walburga’s 33 points to 18 to be crowned Year Three/Four champions, with St Walburga’s beating Burley Woodhead in the Year Five final.
The winners and runners-up will now progress to the West Yorkshire Youth Games.
Participants from Myrtle Park, Sandal, Newhall Park, All Saints, Hoyle Court and Home Farm primary schools were also praised by the organisers for their performances and teamwork.
Bradford competition manager Chris Smith said: “This year tennis development for the young people within Bradford has been fantastic.
“It has been a great opportunity for children to learn tennis skills, participate in quality competitions and in-teract with children from diverse backgrounds across the district.
“These competitions break down the stereotypical barriers that surround tennis and encourage children to join local tennis clubs.”
There are further opportunities for children and young people to take part in tennis sessions across the city.
