Goalkeeper Jason Brown is hoping his extended loan from Blackburn to Leeds United leads to a permanent move.

The Welsh international’s contract at Ewood Park is up at the end of the season and he is looking to move on.

Brown made his debut in the 2-1 defeat at Ipswich on Saturday when second-choice Shane Higgs suffered a hamstring injury just after the hour.

With first-choice Kasper Schmeichel missing his sixth successive game with a foot injury, United are short of fit and experienced keepers, and if Schmeichel and Higgs do not recover in time, Brown will make his first start at Middlesbrough on October 16 in a match to be televised by Sky Sports.

Brown confirmed: “My contract at Blackburn finishes at the end of the season and I made it clear to them in the summer that I was very much looking for another club.

“I am excited to be at Leeds on loan. It would be a great club maybe to come back to if all goes well.

“I am working as hard as I can in training and if I get another opportunity in the first team I want to make the most of it. As good a club as Blackburn are, they don’t get crowds of 25,000, even for the visit of Manchester United, so it is a privilege to be at Leeds.”
